Bear gryll stuff at costco
on: September 26, 2014, 10:52:00 PM
Never thought I would see them at Costco considers they are not particularly high volume, but the price is actually pretty good compared to how much they goes for at other stores. I don't think I will get any but if somebody wants their folders it a good pack.

I'll do one worse than that Derek... I saw them last week and forgot to post them!

Jie is right though, for the price it's a hard one to pass up and I may just allow a set to find their way into my cart next time I am there.

^^^ This.

Anyone who knows his MT/knife/survival gear stuff should keep this Bear Grills Gerber-branded gizmos at arms length, IMO anyway.

I'm with Zoidberg on this one.

They may be proper quality, but I would not buy them just on principle alone.

That's just me though. I'm not ragging on anyone for wanting to own them.  :salute:

I have the Ultimate Survival knife, and it lives in my Jeep.  I've had no problems with it, and think it's a fine blade.  I also like the color scheme of it.  I could care less if it says Bear Grylls on it, and didn't buy it because of his name.  I think Gerber makes good blades, and it was on sale when I bought it.

Now, saying that, it will be replaced with a Ka Bar when it arrives. :D

Yup.

A lightweight plastic pencil sharpener with dual size holes (small and large) is everything I need to make tinder, and carry that one in my outdoor EDC bag all the time. Sometimes I use a folder if necessary.

All this "BG survival stuff" is total bull... Bear himself doesn't trust any of his own branded 'toys' except for the paracord survival bracelet I saw him wear in couple of episodes. Even that BG survival bracelet is more for show as it's made of 2 pieces of paracord (one long, one short) to combine grey/orange colors.

There I said it...shoot me... :P

You two are so sad.  :twak:

I'll do one worse than that Derek... I saw them last week and forgot to post them!

Jie is right though, for the price it's a hard one to pass up and I may just allow a set to find their way into my cart next time I am there.

It is a great price!  I'd like to get a set, but I really don't need them. I do really want them though!

You like Bear Grill's knives?! Are you taking a piss?!

  :D

I'm not.   I don't look at them for how they're advertised and marketed though.  I think they are different and pretty cool looking knives.  I don't think they are worth their retail price, but that two pack is a good deal IMHO.

Gerber wouldn't do everything wrong. I was just going for the recurring joke:
