Swiss made?
Not surprising, they don't make the watch themselves but buy them. Lots of smaller watch manufacturer buy the clockwork from another company.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

You know...they will still make what sells well. Who knows, maybe it will be a hit with folks out there. We are such a small and vocal community...and if history shows us, we certainly do not represent the majority. Look at the Gerber Suspension. Oh how most of use absolutely detest that MT, and yet it was Gerber's best seller for many years.

Are you afraid such a venture will be the Swiss Business tool of Wenger's demise?

Frankly, I have big wrist, and would love to see how one of these would work out. One never knows, it might be an EDC with me as well.

I don't see this as a working tool, but as a novelty gift for those people who aren't easy to buy for. Should they be making something like this? Well they are a business first and foremost, and they'll produce whatever they think they can make a profit with

:td: :td: :td: Even if the bracelet was strong enough to be functional, would the design be functional as well? How much would this cost? All in all, I wonder what they were thinking. I don't like the looks of the watch either.

Just my two cents.

I don't generally wear watches (dangerous around farm equipment) BUT:

IF the watch is good quality and...
IF the bracelet/band isn't jabby or snaggy, then:

I would definitely buy one and wear it to work or out socially.  So there.  :twak:

I wouldn't want that watch (I think there is also a law against wearing non-Swiss watches).

Since it says 'SWISS MADE' on the dial, there are laws that provide how much of a watch must be 'Swiss' in origin to allow them to say that. IIRC, the movement dial, and case(?)

Good God. Am I really the only one here who finds this "thing" awful ?

Come on guys...WTF?!

No, I am RIGHT there with you. HOwever, separating the DIAL apart...I can say that I really like the dial and hands. All else is obnoxious.

Isn't this guy at risk of being fired?! ???

Pretty much. Borderline dangerous to his employment unless the 'leak' was intentional, in order stir some side-commentary from the multi-tool community or to elicit pro and con arguments he would later take on board and discuss with the rest of the design team there.

That was one of my thoughs, exactly. A little free test-marketing can go a long way. , LOL.

Seems like there is more novelty than function here. A cool concept, but if you have to use this limp noodle to actually use the tools I'm not sure how useful it would really be. Maybe it folds up into a more rigid handle of sorts?

I do like that it has both square and torx bits. And the watch isn't bad looking.

+1. Maybe a bit holder could be incorporated to make it fully functional?

 So many things are wrong with this idea that I'm having trouble articulating them.  "Like tools?  Well now you can look like a tool with the new watch from Leatherman."

First, that chain link design won't want to twist, so it won't conform to the wrist very well.  that means it'll dig into your skin.  Second, the driver bits stick out where the band curls around the wrist, look at the bottom of the second image.  That's going to gouge at things.  Third, who wants to take their watch off to turn a screw or bolt?  If you did use the drivers, the finish would become gouged and ugly, if you didn't, you're wearing a phillips driver as a fashion statement.  Fourth, it looks like it's a mechanical watch.  Mechanical watches are extremely cool, but when I think Leatherman, I think utility. When I think utility, I think quartz watch.  Fifth, a Swiss-made Leatherman?  Come on.

Stick with multitools, Leatherman.  Leave the watch making to the watch makers.

To each their own. I think a leather band with slots to put bits into would be a excellent idea. It would not be uncomfortable at all.

Now that's a good idea.  :tu:

Stanley made one (it was part of their watch/tool series of promotional products), but it only held 4 small  bits, so nothing too heavy-duty.  The watch casing was the driver for the bits.  For some reason ???  ::)  it wasn't a commercial success (nor was their watch/plier for that matter, but it was wacky enough to amuse me   :D  )

Here's a link to the Stanley Watch/Screwdriver:

I've bought from this seller a few times, sometimes shipping takes a while but (so far) everything has arrived OK.

Its not pretty :P

I looked at that link and saw this:

While, way too bulky, I think that would be a good idea (not for everybody, imaging doing metal-filing while wearing this).

C'mon leatherman, you've made enough doodads lately that arent MTs (so many pocket tools...), lets just get back to plier-based stuff please! This reminds me a bit of those cheesy Gerber GDC products... or the Bear Grylls Belt...

I just don't see where any marketing staff would think was a good idea.  There is no way that this will sell or be viable for use beyond a watch.  Waist of time and money.
