For a thread meant to welcome someone, let's not scare them away!
I hope you don't feel uncomfortable with some of the more personal comments here Megan.
To me it seems inappropriate.

+1  >:(

The way some of us have welcomed our new member of the forum and admin team is bang out of order. I don't know how it makes Megan feel, but it has certainly made me feel rather uncomfortable. It's a forum ABOUT tools not a forum for acting like one!

Yup, :-\

I've been noticing a shift in the forum dynamics as of late and I'm not sure I like it too much. Yes, we always tried to keep this place a bit as a pub where you go drink a few beers after work and talk shop/tools with friends. But lately it feels like everybody drank WAY too much tequila and forgot where they were.

sorry maybe I'm just tired, but have I missed something? I can't see much 'offensive posting' here
maybe I can be a little forward with my comments ? but if anyone thinks I've been 'out of order' could they please PM me and I will rethink my humour  :-\
I really hate to think I've said something too inappropriate, but I can't see who else you guys can be referring to ?

I think a lot of "humour" from various people has been too candid of late, particulary this last week. It's important to remember that the written word doesn't always convey the "twinkle in the eye" to say I'm only joking that you would in real life, and there's been a few comments on the boards lately that have rather disappointed me. I don't think any member has ever been received as disrespectfully as Megan, but there's been other threads too which have been out of character for the forum, and quite frankly it's a good job I don't have access to the ban button as I might have been getting some good use out of it lately  :twak:

My comments are not aimed at anyone specifically, but lets try and get the MTO spirit back and show everyone else a bit of courtesy, eh?  :salute:

you've obviously seen or read things I haven't. I don't read everything posted on here, despite the amount of time I spend on here. Al I've personally not seen anything 'disrespectful' to Megan, or anyone else for that matter for a while, but I will bow to your greater knowledge.
I personally can only apologise if 'I' have caused any offence, too any one  :salute:
that has never been my intention and I hope I haven't (I genuinely believe I haven't )
I'm getting a little paranoid now because I haven't a clue where this is all coming from ?

It's early on a Saturday morning, and a few Friday night drinks have passed the gullet. I've vented what I needed to vent, and will now withdraw before any further comments are liquor driven rather than Al driven  :salute:

Anyway, I do look forward to reading your feedback.
I think you'll be happy to have a look at the site again once we revamp things.

I'm into multitools- maybe not a collector... yet. But I enjoy what we're all doing and I look forward to chatting more about it.

I posted about some of what I have in my intro thread. And probably this one too.
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,54521.msg947529.html#msg947529

I think I'd like a LM Micra.
I'm an archer and I am also thinking about the Gerber Myth.
Grant wears this knife kayaking and I think I like it more than the one I'm using. So I am thinking of getting myself one.

Since most of the people I know have a hard time finding any fun in things I find hilarious, I'm probably one the persons that gave rise to the last comments about "not-the-best-behaviour-to-have-here".

I admit my knowledge of MTs, SAKs and the like is not that vast and yet I'm at 2500+ posts, much more than some real contributors to the database this forum is. Doing the math, most of my posts could easily disappear without being a loss to the forum.

I often tend to derail some threads and make fun WITH, not make fun OF, some members, the ones that don't seem to mind and also make fun WITH me. This probably fills the forum with lots of "garbage" that only interests 2 or 3 people involved directly in those exchanges.

Having said that...

... I'll try to refrain from further unimportant comments/remarks, hoping to help reduce any uneasy feelings people may have when reading my posts.

I think I post more about coffee than I post about MTs and SAKs :)
I wouldn't worry about chatting.
This is a forum- not the MTO prison where you MUST talk about MTs or else  :twak:

That's because you need all that coffee to organize all the info about MTs and SAKs we have around here. So, it's MT related.

Hmmm.

Small spoon for stiring, small wood saw to cut cinnamon sticks, orange/lemon peeler (this is more for tea)...

For coffee, an exact weighing scale and a grinder are the two most obvious tools. A digital scale shouldn't be too complicated to incorporate, but I have a hard time envisioning the grinder. So, perhaps something suited to maintaining grinders and weights: A few screwdrivers, an awl, perhaps a pair of pliers... This sounds familiar, but I can't put my finger on where I've heard about something like this...

Oh, and BTW: Welcome to the forum!

I don't want to go on about it, I really didn't even want to bring it up in the first place, but I was surprised no Mods stepped in. I'm fairly new here and hope I'm not out of line sticking my beak in like this, but just so you know where I'm coming from:
Quote
she’s going to help us get back on top
Megan is very good fit
What was I saying.... nice melon.
I've laid off the "NICE MELONS!" joke for 3 days now!
If life hands you melons... ... you might have sex daily! :D
we can live with as many new pictures of that pretty face
you could post your whole photo album on the frontpage
All of your pics up to now have been without a towel. Keep it like that!
having done a FB 'stalk' (I admit it ) I know there are plenty of Megan pics to tickle our fancy :)
I have left out ownership of the quotes as I don't want to finger-point, like 50ft-trad says, it's various people and we all tend to get carried away with things.
Now, I'm a big fan of double entendres too and they may have their place in this forum, but when you're welcoming a new female member to the forum I don't think it is appropriate to bombard them with this sort of stuff. Whether she's OK with it or not I don't know - she may not care and laugh it off - or it might make her feel uncomfortable and not taken seriously as a person, just as an object.

Rant over... can we move on?
