I find bare aluminum to be surprisingly dirty to handle. Rub it in your hands and it leaves a black dust on your fingers. (where does the black come from?)

I don´t know. Maybe a rest of the production process.

15 years ago I got my first Surefire 6P, which is made of aluminium.
It is anodized, but at that time I removed a small ring from the head.
I never have polished it and as you can see in the pic it looks like new.

And an anodized Fenix (one year old)

It's my understanding that the "black" is oxidized aluminum. Or were you joking?

No no, its no joke. Find a piece of raw aluminum and your hands will be tinged with black dust. I think that's why items like aluminum mag wheels on cars are clear anodized.

And you're probably right about the oxidation bit. :-\

I thought you might be jokeing because I've seen your work and it is so far beyond my capabilities that I guess I assumed you knew all about metal and metal work.

I'm pretty sure about the black being oxidizing. I only know what I read, but I read a lot.

This oxidizing is very common with aluminum flashlights and I remove some every time I clean them.

WD, I like the non-rolling ring of the TK10. Very nice for cigar like grip.

Very nice pics Ed! I'll add some shots of mine too!

I'm home now Chief. I'm dead tired of our trip. Yesterday we traveled for 8 hours straight by land. This morning I took the 9:30 am flight from Manila to Bacolod, then another 1.5 hours trip by land before reaching home. Have so many pictures to share. Will take some rest first, will post some pics this evening.

Prime,
I love to own one of those. Is it already out in the market?

Gene,
Very nice picture. Is that the 1911 Colt you mentioned to me earlier?

I will be going back there in Manila on Aug 3. We will again go to SOE so we can get another Fenix.

Eddie
