Did you sharpen the Mora before? Sometimes the factory grind gets a little too hot and the edge becomes brittle. Maybe this happened here?

This is a great possibility. I didn't sharpen the knife at all, the knife was used to make a notch and divot into a fire board. It was in the 30's F if that made a difference and the knife had really minor usage overall, never abused.It's not a huge deal I was just surprised how seemingly easy it popped off. I love the knife but IMO it really is an outdoor kitchen knife as opposed to what most use it for.
I dont know if Mora has a warranty policy? It should not happen with a knife thats almost new. I dont know how much you paid for it? it might not be worth the hassle if they do have a policy, and you have to send it back.
Nice fix!It is a worker's knife, it is meant to be resharpened over time. From the pictures I think it was just a bit of the thin-profiled edge. There is a lot of life left in the blade, and your daughter will surely enjoy the craftsmanship.
