50 p axe

Hi everyone, i found this axe at a local thriftshop for 50p and im about to buff it up a bit, but can annyone tel me a little more about it ? I know its an axe and i know it rusty and old and it says 500 on the side  :tu:

I'd say the 500 is probably a reference to its weight, so 500 grams.

Wow thats alot of options sparky haha, im going to keep the old busted up look but om u going to polish the edge to razor scharp... i think im going to make a little survival axe so later im going to ask for some handle mat. tips, thanks all

I set it in vinigar for a night and after a good scrub i wetstoned it to razor sharp after that i fabricated a handle from an old hammer with some leather i had laying around and heres the result! What do jou think?

That does look very neat. :tu:  Can I ask what's to stop the head coming off when being swung?

i used a little slice of the top of the handle, under there is a steel wedge slammed in the handle as jou normaly do, then i glue'd the top slice back  :tu:

hmm  ??? I dont know .. the clear kind my wife uses to make salad actualy. It loosend the rust right up so i could brush it of under the running tap.  Probably dun a good job al wrong... :facepalm:
