fixed knife sheaths with UTILITY POCKET
on: July 07, 2008, 01:10:48 AM
i was thinkin of gettin some aftermarket sheath but it needs to have sheath that can take multitool.

any good ideas?

ive seen once one really really really fine one, that had a pouch on top of actual plastic/kydex sheath,it had zippers closure and it was some stretchy material, perhaps neoprene?

u know what i mean? any info where to get one?

the crkt m60 seems to have nice one too.

I have two very similar ones that came with my Beckers.  Same layout but it looks like the Spec Ops sheaths are of better overall quality.

It is possible to snip the stiching that holds the velcro on and remove it, and put a snap in it's place...or to be even quieter some kind of thing that loops around a pronounced button..

oh really?

here they dont sell spec ops any where so i hesitate a bit, ordering one, cause it aint so cheap, and i didnt knowif its good or not.

i just cant still figure out how the H___ i found that one strange sheath, and then they disapperared from abay totally it seems.it was like spec ops but that small pocket was strange in a good way, they had a pic,in that the pocket had some 1aa lite, some small folder, glow tube or something in it,so it had to be stretching material, and it had for sure a zipper.

ive been lookin at that crkt´s m60,it seems to have a decent knife with it :D

I've seen what you're talking about...looks something like this?

They might have clipped one of these to an existing sheath..

yes the shape of that is kinda same, yes sir.

is that what, maxpeditions some ofcourse but size?

it occurred to my mind that if i canb get a hold of one good sheath, that has im molded loops for straps,on sides,i could easily stitch one pouch like that together with starps made from cordura and then attach it into sheath...

hmm....

The back looks like this;

It's a Maxpedition Cocoon
Overall: 2 in diameter x 8 in long
Belt: 3 in Closed Loop
Attach: Short Malice Clip (sold separately), SlikClip (included)
Color Options: Black / Green / Khaki

Reminiscent of a butterfly chrysalis, the MAXPEDITION™ Cocoon Pouch (#3301) was designed as a durable low-profile carry case for objects too long to fit in other MAXPEDITION waistpacks or pockets. With an overall capacity of 8 inches and a full length opening zipper with paracord pull, the Cocoon Pouch will accommodate all your favorite oversized items: big fat permanent black markers and other writing utensils, titanium spork/chopsticks, even a toiletry kit with your toothbrush and shave kit. This elongated pocket also makes for a great flashlight or folding knife storage pouch. Loops throughout for tie-downs, key rings, SlikClips, or detachable 1" quick release buckles. Also ALICE/MOLLE compatible using a Short Malice Clip (sold separately).

you could always remove the velcro from one of them nylon/cordura sheaths and stitch your own
button and loop

and some come with clips like this Ranger one I got with my RD7

USA made Schrades are good knives, but make sure it's not an imported one from china using the Schrade name.

Not to go back to suggesting the same company again, but SOG has a sheath like what you are looking for, though the pouches are velcro, and I think they are designed only for specific SOG knives.

think u mean the SEAL & seal pup &seal elite knifes sheaths?

theyre way cool,i wouldnt hesitate a second to buy one if i could one decent priced from ebay or here.the molle sheath is bit cooler than the original but the orig would be really nice too.

(this would be the optional molle pouch i could love and cherish)

The Schrade EXTREME doesn't look too trustworthy. It sounds kind of like Victorinox ULTRA or Gerber PLUS.

Me, I'll cast my humble vote for that Field Pup of mine.
