Blast rebuild questions from newbie

First post here and got a couple questions. First is should you lubricate the pliers pivot and lock areas regularly and if so what type lube high or low viscosity? Second is pertaining to a blast model I just got from a pawn shop I got it for $15 it's got rust here a there but I took care of that however it's missing a tool lock part on one side. I can still use the tolls but I'd rather them lock. I found a lock online but it was sold out. Could another model tool lock fit my blast?

Welcome to
I put 3-1 dry lube but don't do that very often
Congrats on getting a Blast for $15
Great deal but the missing lock tab might not let the tools on that side be usable really
and it is a specific size and only another Blast lock tab would probably fit in there unfortunately
hopefully you can find one and get it back to working order

I can't help with the incomplete lock mechanism on the Blast, but you did good for $15! As for lubricating the pliers pivot and lock, I'd say it should be done periodically and any time you know or suspect water worked its way in there.

Any chance you could post a pic? I believe there is an earlier and a later version. I just got a blast off ebay, and one of the handles is cracked where the plier head rubs on it. So, I might have a part you could use.
