Alright, I've gone back and forth about this.  The idea of locking everything up for ANOTHER month isn't settling well, but I think by December I should be able to give it a shot.  I'm in with my plain edge Skele.

01 - Kampfer, Skeletool X
02 - powernoodle, Skeletool
03 - Breezy12, Skeletool CX
04 - HarleyXJGuy, Skeletool

G'Day,

This will be an interesting challenge. I'm in with a MUT. I have been looking for an excuse to carry it exclusively, and test the leather sheaths I made. It will certainly be a change from the Original Wave I usually carry.

01 - Kampfer, Skeletool X
02 - powernoodle, Skeletool
03 - Breezy12, Skeletool CX
04 - HarleyXJGuy, Skeletool
05 - GPS12, Skeletool CX
06 - colt 1911, Skeletool
07 - eddie1115, Skeletool
08 - pietervn, BO MUT

Cheers,

Pete

That surprised me, Noodle. Your carry tends to be quite minimalistic anyway. Was it just the lack of scissors or something else?

It is only $18 more then I paid for my regular Skelly shipped from Amazon. Can't be that bad a deal.

Been doing some thinking about this whole Skeletool combo edge blade situation and came to the conclusion I should give CE a chance. Part of the 31 day Skelly challenge sort of. Plus I looked on TTC and they did not have any PE 154 blades for sale. Thought for sure they would from all the Ninja Damascus tools they make.

Its not impossible that I will jump back in.  I think I would still like to try. But you are right that I am into maximizing the utility to size/weight ratio of my toys.  And for me, the Skeletool is not optimal in this regard.  The S2 weighs less and has more tools, for example, and so I get a grumpy face when I look at the Skeletool.

Its really hard for me not to have a SAK in my pocket, and I'm still rebounding from the last minimalist challenge too.  So that's part of it.  And, I want to increase the odds that one of you guys will win it, because if I get back in, I'm definitely winning it.  :)

I love the idea of the challenge, though, and may get back in before Dec 1 if I can muster the stamina.

Good idea.  :tu:

I somehow like partial serrated blades.

While i enjoy a plain edge for easy and precise cuttings, i prefer serrated blades for the more heavy cutting "at real work", where each plain edge would go blunt soon. That´s one reason i love and edc my Surge (and why i´m upgrading my OHT blades), it has good sized blades of each kind.

But when i´m stuck with only one blade .... then partial serrated, please.
At least if the blade is not to small, the size of the Skeletools blade is where the fun starts.  :tu:
Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

Agree about SE blades holding there sharpness a bit longer with the softer steel you often see on Multi Tool blades. That is part of the reason I love my super steel Spyderco knives.

Something in S90V, 110V or CTS-204P will hold its edge for a very long time. Like I just sharpen them after a month or so just cause, not because of a major loss in sharpness.

Part of the reason I can not wait to toss a S30V blade on my Wave.

The steel doesn´t matter that much, they all get blunt at those kind of work.  ;)

Cutting ropes, pallet straps, heavy rubber or PU hoses (esspecially when cutting the ends to install new brass fittings the blade often get contact to the brass), .... all much better done with a serrated blade.
Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

I'd love to play, but I don't think my skeletool would be very accepted at my internship place, where I will spend most of my time, so I'll pass.

Sorry, another one with an excuse why not to join this challenge...December is my busiest month and I will hardly have any time to even think about MTs let alone wear them and record stuff along the way.

But in an off chance I do, it will be my trusty modded Black Ninja MUT.

Babola it looks like you black modded you fingers not the MUT.

So I tried a little SKTC pregaming today by leaving my Spydercos in the room and just rocking the Wave. Well as far as needing tools it was a bust since it was inventory computers day. I been thinking this challenge will be hard for two reasons.

One. I got a lot of neat stuff coming that will get here right about December. Boo! New toys and I can not even play with em. (Evowood 18, OC Pioneer, Swisschamp and a Spyderco Para 2 Sprint)

Two. Just gotten so use to having a knife clipped to my front pocket all the time. Can not imagine how many times I will reach for it.

Three. Yeah so what I can't count. Will kind be lame not being able to switch it up everyday or so.
