It's not about money I think all saks are good value for the price, I've got new saks n used them for a day or 2 then gone back to either sc or camper ,think it must be the memories and patina they have. I've just replaced the scales on my sc to ruby plus  but not sure what I think yet!

I read it, adopt me.  :pok:  :D

Too late, my brother's going to get them.  :D

Didn't want to upstage Chako, but will anyways.  >:D

I have over a 1,000 SAKs, as well as a fair number of other knives. On the other hand, Chako has a ton of multi-tools and other odd-ball stuff.

Huh?  I only have a couple a hundred and have half expected a visit from the white coat guys for years.

I'm sure you big number guys are candidates for the SAKitarium.

A man I once worked with claimed I was not a true collector because I was not willing to go into debt to fund my collection. He collected in a dozen areas and was a nationally recognized authority in several of them. He was also constantly in debt and being dunned for missed payments and bounced checks. He was also a total slob and a pathological hoarder, and after he died they brought in a number of industrial-sized dumpsters to clean the trash out of his house. Most of his collections also ended up in the dumpsters because no one was willing to dig through the tons of trash to sort out the good stuff.

My collection is organized, documented and paid in full. I am sane (sorta  :D )

Mind you, this isn't a shot of my collection. These are knives I need to get rid of.

Hey JB - All these knives you want to get rid of are the ones I want in my collection  ???
External rivets, bail, old Soldier awl - Love it :D
Please let us know when you are selling them off.

PS. So this is not the collection - So when do we get to see the collection?  Do we wait till publication release date - Or is there a link already on this forum??

Tnx

Don't worry, the thrill of the hunt is the exciting part.  Its a bit like going on vacation- the planning and imaging is often just as good as the actual experience.  The good thing about saks is, once you reach equilibrium with your collection (ie more than you could use in 2 lifetimes) you can enjoy your richness of tools and downsize to a manageable level.

Two more tips to ease things down:

1.  For one month carry a classic (alox or not) and a silver pioneer or farmer exclusively.  This is pretty much the ultimate combo IMO.  If you start getting frisky with colors, buy some cheap nail polish and give em a coat.  This is lowbie but quite an effective way to change up your collection, and unless you have specific requirements, meets most tool needs.
2.  If after one month you still have the urge, it might be better to spend the bucks on a mod, than to spend maybe even more on mutiples saks that don't quite get there.
Bonus: A Swisstool Spirit is fantastic, and a suitable replacement to the more exotic saks.  There is usually a good sale on them on Amazon on Black Friday as well. It is more suitable for some situations, but not for others.

I have quite a few really cool saks and mods, but I tend to use an alox classic and an alox SI (partially lacquered black) as my EDC.
Lurking with a large collection of sharp knives!
