Now,I'm not complaining,I'm just a bit surprised how quickly the patina of use is forming!

Next,I'll run my new BO Blast, just to see how it compares in use

So,we're well into the second week of living with the OHT. I'm still taking a lot of pleasure using it. I don't know how the Great Book of Multitools will remember the OHT,but damn it a Jim, I like it!

What I have noticed, however,is the wear patterns starting to develop on the BO finish!

The plier release buttons

Hi Kirk, pretty much the same observation here. I have owned the new BO OHT for few weeks now and the black finish on the plier release/push buttons has completely worn off :-(.

Now the buttons are silver in color vs the rest of the tool which is black. Not a great look for almost a new tool, but I still like it very much and as many here were pleasantly surprised once I started actually using and handling it.

Those push buttons are also made of some sort of alloy or aluminum, they  feel lighter, and flimsier under the thumb compared to what you's expect from S/S. Strange move by Leatherman indeed, as those buttons represent high-impact areas of the tool and get used almost all the time. It appears LM dropped a ball on QC once again. Oh well...

I haven't spend much time on MTO since I received OHT, busy playing with it.
The finish on the release button wore off within hours...I like the look of it, don't mind.

I overlooked this topic earlier, but then I saw it right next to the Dating a Rebar topic and thought to my self, what the smurf is going on here?  Dating rebars and living with OHT's?

"Living with an OHT" title at first sounded to me like a story about living with some certain disease

Anyway, nice pics and review. OHT is the most interesting LM multitool model to me at the moment.

Regarding the pliers with things like deployment, strength, cutters, handle comfort, possible hand biting etc who wins between the OHT and MP600?

Having had a play with Kirky's OHT, I'd say the OHT wins in all of those categories.
The plier pivot is bigger on the OHT, they're about the same thickness, I don't like the Gerber replaceable cutter, I do quite like the Leatherman ones. There's a huge and irritating gap in the OHT handles so you're not going to pinch yourself and they're about the same to deploy.

If you don't mind the fact it's fat, doesn't have a file and the medium flat driver is on the strap cutter I'd say the OHT wins hands down.

Cupboard nailed it already, so not much to add really. The OHT pliers are longer, slightly chunkier and the replaceable carbide cutters more robust (larger and thicker) than the smallish triangle ones found on MP600.

Oh and as mentioned before, the spring loaded pliers leave a large gap between handles when closed so you won't be able to easily pinch your fingers or a palm with OHT.

All in all, it's a better built tool than MP600 but it won't be for everyone and many will still find the venerable and proven MP600 to be a better fit for their needs.

just to nit pick, the Leatherman cutters are 154CM and it's the Gerber cutters that are carbide.
That means that the Gerber cutters can be shattered and chipped but should stay sharp for longer and the Leatherman ones are softer and therefore you're less likely to break them but more likely to dent them.

Bearing that in mind, I've got an MP600 with chipped cutters and all the abuse I've given my Rebar cutters they're still fine.

Another thing to bear in mind with cutters is that both sets of replaceable cutters are noticeably wider than their non-replaceable counterparts. If you're cutting a lot of fat, soft things (like multi-core copper cable) you're better off with the non-replaceable cutters because they cut *much* more easily.

Doing some tests on Tuesday, Wave cutters went though a piece of 7*0.75mm copper instrument cable very easily, Rebar cutters did it fine but with more effort and less cleanly, and I couldn't get though with (non chipped) MP600 carbide cutters.

What am I doing here ... ?

Why am I looking at reviews of the OHT ... ?
If there was one Leatherman I swore I would never buy ...

But the OHT is popping up in the local shops, and yesterday I've been lurking at one in its blister package and I just know where this is leading to ...  ::)

I think it's only fair to blame Kirky for this  :twak:.
