Higonokami blade length question
on: November 21, 2014, 03:12:24 AM
I am looking at the Higonokami knives and have a question about blade length.

What are the blade lengths on the Medium and Large?

Thanks everyone.

I really don't care. I was only interested because their is a city near by that restricts blade length, but if I travel their I would not be carrying one of these anyways. I love these friction folders ever since I got my Svord Mini Peasant and am excited to see what these Higonakami's are all about.

Are all Higonokami the "same" steel or are there varieties in quality?
I'm totally ignorant when it comes to Higonokami. Is this a single manufacturer or a type of knife

Higonokami are in theory only made by certain, licensed, craftsmen.

There are now, however, made by various people. I have some and the lesser known ones are sometimes better than the proper, branded ones.

The steel used varies, as shown by the price of each knife.

Also decorations and handle material affect cost too.

This is a good read:

I could be completely wrong as I have done very little research and I have not found much info, but from what I have gathered this is what I think.

Higonokami is a style of knife and produced by different people/manufacturers. I do believe they come in different blade steels as well when you get into the more expensive Higonokami. Again, I could be completely off on this one though. I would love to hear form someone with some knowledge on the subject.

Faster than the Captain   :ahhh

Here is my "proper" one.

In theory, as it is very likely these "proper" ones will not be made in the future it may be worth something one day.

They are very sexy, simple and useful.
Basic, utiltarian dinosaurs, like the peasant knife, the non locking opinels....

that is what I say about your avatar....

They have been cheap for years, even the fancy ones. I remember that the top of the range ones were about $20, including shipping, a couple of years ago.. There is no excuse not to get one. You get more attention than with a fancy stag GEC knife, as they look alien to westerners.

Yeah, but the shipping cost and the pain in the ass... I like to hold what I buy, before I buy, I'm old fashioned that way.
