Victorinox in Seoul?
on: November 23, 2014, 02:38:41 AM
I will be going to Seoul in 2 weeks' time for a short holiday and hope to buy a few Vics to add on to my humble collection. I remember reading from brenman10's posts that there were a lot of rare victorinox knives scattered around the area. Are there any forumers here from Seoul or anyone who's familiar with the place who can enlighten me about the models available there? I'm specifically looking for the following, BNIB:

1) Classic whistle, and rare solid colors
2) Timekeeper in black
3) Yeoman
4) Scientist
5) Mechanic junior
6) Swiss champ 100 years

Any info would be most appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Wow! That was fast. I know I can always count on my fellow forumers here for help. Thanks enki_ck  :salute:

Based on what was reported, I think I better bring more KRWs there. I've always been interested in the Damascus series but am not willing buy one at ebay prices. And being in Asia, where interest in SAKs is not as much as our western counterparts, I've learnt that there are some models which are way cheaper here. For eg. I bought not one but two full sets of the cadet colours at around USD35 per knife. And the also the black one hand trekker and black nylon scale bantam at USD27 and USD4. Really saved quite a bit there. But for the models that I wanted and are not available locally, I've paid dearly for them. For eg. I've bought several pioneers and 1961 soldiers at 2-4 times what they cost in retail shops. So I guess I'm still in a "lost" here. Hopefully I can "even it out" with this trip to Seoul.

I'm sorry I didn't stock up on black nylon bantams while they were still issued to your troops.

BTW, if you notice anything changed in the mean time from what comis wrote in his guide, please update in his thread so that future travelers have a more current reference point. :salute:
