Quiet day for the Squeak, despite a visit to our buying office.

The one thing I'd say is that the pocket clip can be a bit over grippy though

In my opinion this is a huge advantage and exactly what I want.

Yeah,I can see where your coming from. Flip side is,the Squeak is riding in my pocket ATM with the Kirkyclip. The LM pocket clip allows a fast easy draw, with only a slight chance of falling out. The Spydie clip just bites, and on occasion has needed two hands to remove. Bit ironic for an oho :D

Bend the clip a little.  :pok:

The clip is the one thing that bugs me (no pun here, spiders are arachnids and no bugs!), I don't like the way it looks else that is a pretty knife.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Take it off and carry it in your coin pocket.  ::)

If a clip isn't comfortable when using the knife then I remove it.
On smaller knives like my Dragonfly or Mini Grip the clip gives me something to grip when deploying or closing it.
I don't really like looks of the Dragonfly or Mini Grip but they work really well.
IMO the Surge is an ugly pos. But it has the most comfortable handles.
Not always but generally I'll take function over fancy.

I like the wire clip. It doesn't attract attention and it has worked well for me.

It's been a quiet time for the Squeak pending the last tranch of deliveries for the year. Saturday, however nearly ended in disaster for both the Squeak and me...

Black Friday was, thankfully, something of a non event. Lots of not very happy people, but not lots of business. Saturday,on the hand, was smurfing busy. Thankfully the crowds were in a good mood.

Bout four o'clock, the following happened. We have large red linen type baskets for the customers to use in store. I don't like them much as I think they're very unwealdy. Crossing the floor near the up escalator,I had a close miss with a customer carrying a couple of these bags. Although we didn't collide with each other, the bags did hit me. I'm used to hearing things drop, and you kinda know what something is by the sound of the impact. Something dropped and hit the ground...

I went on about five steps puzzling the odd noise,I dropped my hand to my pocket...yeah,there's the Kirkyclip, ok no prob....SSMMUUURRFFFFF!

Yeah, there was the Squeak lying on the floor! Mad charge to grab it before anyone noticed the scary knife on the floor! The damn red bags had caught under the tip of the pocket clip, and the movement had dragged the damn thing out of my pocket

I'm now thinking of removing the pocket clip altogether!
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

It's probably not a bad thing the clip will go.  I like to wear shirts with pockets and the squeak would fit nicely in one.  If you wear jeans at work the coin pocket would be great too however given the size and thinness it should be a good fit in most any pocket.

Couple of Squeaky updates:

Had to sharpen the Squeak last week. On one hand I'm quite happy as a couple of passes through my Vic ceramic sharpener brought the edge right back. On the other hand it means the fancy Italian steel doesn't hold an edge much better than a 440 SAK blade. I can't help thinking if I'd paid UK prices for the Squeak I'd be pi**ed.

The other update is about perceptions. UK legal or not,the Squeak is not as friendly as Spyderco would like to believe. One of our demonstrators was struggling with packing straps,so I flicked the Squeak open and offered it to him. Now bear in mind, this guy is quite 'street',he jumped about three steps back muttering about me being mad,and how he wouldn't smurf with me. No folks, while the Squeak is cute to us nut jobs,it ain't warm and cuddly like a red SAK.

I think the Squeak will need to be stood down in the next couple of days as we get into London's festive stabbing season

It's hard to imagine ( coming from California ) but I completely get it about the knife's perceived cuteness vs the reality that it's still a knife no matter what color the scales.  I can also see how the blade shape would also lend to the perception as well.

I guess for those of us where the laws allow for many types of blades even the non blade people don't get as startled.   They've more or less become desensitized if you will.

Your not wrong. I suspect it's the better part of twenty years since the culture of men carrying knives died out here in the UK . Having spent a lot of my younger years in SA,I'm used to the idea of biltong knives and the like. I'm constantly surprised that even kids who've been through Scouts or Cadets arn't knife savy.

So is it safe to say that a Buck 110 might not go over too well in your workplace?

That's too funny, I understand people may not like knives. But its a pretty solid stretch to be fearful of a toy store employee with a tiny pink knife.

I don't think it was the knife that scared that guy. I think it was the delivery. If an offer for a knife had been made verbally, and when accepted it had been handed over closed, with a caution like "it's sharper than it looks". I believe the response may have been different.

I think that movies and tv shows have people associating a metallic noise, a knife or gun, and movement, as precursors to impending violence/gore/death. Most people don't consider a knife a tool unless it is in a kitchen. And then it is a pry bar for separating frozen foods...
I EDC'd a SAK before MacGyver did...

I've always wanted to try the squeak but if I don't want a lock I use a sak or slippy. A modern folder without the lock seems silly to me living in the USA. I understand over there it's a must and I'm sorry you live with a bunch of pansies.
