Holiday load out
on: December 19, 2015, 07:33:37 PM
December down south of Africa means sun, outdoors and adventure.

I'm off to the coast for a few weeks and taking some knives and tools with of course. The place is very sub tropical surrounded by a nature reserve and estuary.  Lots of water activities avoiding Crocs, Hippos and Sharks.

My choices for knives, SAKs and MT's with lots of redundancy and options.

Knife = Pacific Salt SE with secondary knife being a Military for braaing (BBQ)
SAK (beer, wine) = Light duty always on Waiter with backup Huntsman to give a saw and scissors.
MT = Blast and Skeletool with bitkit.

Who is away over December and what are you taking along?

Im actually at Disneyworld wi th my kids for the next two days (and have been for three days already), so my edc has shrunk to just my cell phone, old Timex Expedition, the Disney wristband thing, and a map of the park du jour. I feel pretty naked without any tools, but ive already been "randomly selected" for the metal detector  twice, so im not taking chances. When not at the park, I do have my trusty Climber.

I'll probably be going somewhere in January.

No complete list yet but I will be taking some extras for testing, signal, blacktip and maybe a switchplier 2.

Generally I'll pack a folder, bait knife, two fillet knives, two multitools, two headlamps, flashlight and a SAK.

I have the lighting covered; I will be taking my Zebralight H501w and H600(for more throw) as well as two 2xAA lights. Nitecore MT2A and trusty Fenix TK20.

I have a bait knife that lives in the tackle box but I'll take a cheap Chinese folder to test for this role.
I usually fly fish but the kids catch with bait.

Pistol = Glock 27 , wish I had my Shield license.
