Although my collection is small, my passion for SAK's is great, so I'm humbly requesting induction to this most esteemed order. :)   :climber:

I, Exeter, being of relatively sound mind and body, hereby entreat the powers that be to consider me for membership in good standing in the Swiss Army Knights and promise to place no knife before my trusty Swiss Army till rust do us part.

But rust, on a sak? Seriously? I didn't even manage that when I misplaced one of my sak-s on top of a tree for 5 years backe when I was a kid.  :D

Welcome Exeter!

But rust, on a sak? Seriously? I didn't even manage that when I misplaced one of my sak-s on top of a tree for 5 years backe when I was a kid.  :D
Victorinox started using stainless steel in 1921. I'm not sure if they started using "Victorinox" at the same time or just a bit later.
Therefore the original Swiss Army Knife (1889/1890/1891) can rust... It's hard to find one in such a good condition that there's not even marks of previous rustiness (and now that I said that I'm sure one of you will post a pic of one such gem just to  :pok: me).

I've heard from Vic employees that they stopped using the "Elsener" name on civilian knives at the same time they started using stainless steel. Looking at tang-stamp tables kind of makes me doubt that... Does anyone have any info on that?

That may be true for the civilian knives. Started including the Inox/Inoxyd variations  They used the Elsener Schwyz on Soldiers into the early 70's.  But I am certainly not certain.  :D
