So, I got the knife from the ebay bid.

I paid $10.50 for it. At that price, I often have some trepidation as to what it's actual condition is going to be. This one was, aside from standard scuffing on the scales... flawless. Freakishly good condition.

Now I just wait for the set of factory Sapphire scales from FelineVet to show up. It's going to be SO pretty!

I did the same thing except with a Super Tinker.  About the same price from ebay, and sapphire scales from Felinevet

Whoa! That's hilarious.

Well, great minds think alike.

Then again, total idiots think alike, too, so...

And the ebay find with new sapphire scales...

There's no chance that I'll confuse it with any other SAK I own now. Looks REALLY nice in the new duds.

Of course, I scuffed the scales getting them on, so it's not flawless...

But then again, it's not flawless, so now I'm not worried about using it, and potentially scuffing the scales so... win... i guess.

That's one of the cons of the cellidor scales though.  They scuff so easily.  My nice black scales that I swapped onto my Rogueneer lost that new look within days.

It seems to me that the translucent scales are a bit more forgiving in that their appearance is already broken up by being able to see through the material. Scuffs seem less noticeable, at least to me. And i think Silvertech are the absolute best at this, though i'm not sure why.

That's a good point, as the ruby scales I originally had weren't quite as noticeable with the scuffing.  I think part of it is all in the angle and the lighting at the time you look.

There is only one way to avoid scuffing/scratching on a celldor scaled SAK...
Never open the box.

Actually they CAN get mild scuffing in the box just from jiggling around, so you get a situation I like to call "Schrödinger's SAK".

We cannot know whether or not the box has been jiggled excessively, and consequently, cannot know whether the scales are scuffed.
Since we cannot know, according to quantum law, the SAK is both pristine and scuffed, in what is called a superposition of states.
It is only when we break open the box and learn the condition of the SAK that the superposition is lost, and the SAK becomes one or the other (pristine or scuffed).
