Fixed blade carry.
on: November 29, 2014, 02:46:55 AM
I like to carry my fixed blade at 2 o'clock horizontally so I can get at it with my left hand.  I can also right handedly get it and be in reverse grip.

How do you carry your fixed blade?

My Moras are usually 12 and 6 o'clock. Smaller one 3 and 6 or as a necker.

On the left shoulder strap of my backpack, upside down.

Very easy to sheath and unsheath, always in reach and most importantly, it never presses against something, unlike when I carry it on my belt.

When I do not carry a backpack, I carry it horizontally on my belt, or cliped to my pocket.

Right hip, or slightly back from the right hip. Depends on the knife size/type and locations of belt loops

Vertically on left or right hip (depending on knife style) or sometimes inside right thigh pocket if I'm carrying a heavy backpack which does not allow for anything in the belt.

Not really a fixed blade, but fixed! As Kin said on shoulder strap! The only other fixed one I really have is a kbar, the ones with a hooked handle(I forget the name), and that was on the big backpack(Alice frame) hidden behind the back support, easy reach but you'd never know it was there, I had a pic but couldn't find it.. Found it! :)

Middle of the back, IWB, horizontally positioned so I can reach back and grab it with my right hand.

Doesn't a 12 o'clock carry get in the way of...other things?

I'm going to try carrying mine on my pack shoulder strap.  I will experiment and see what works best.  I am pretty ambidextrous so I can get away with having it on either side.
