Ladies and Gentlemen (plus the rest of youse guys) we have made it.  I want to take a moment to thank everyone.  Actually, about two minutes really:

It really is amazing to me that we have made it, and while I know you have all felt that I should have the millionth post, the fact is, that honor has already been taken by our own Sweety Sama:

However, that doesn't count deleted posts, and we had a lot of them over the years.  The actual millionth published post is going to be number 1004356 according to Whoey.

Even so, we needed a way to celebrate this, and so the person who makes post number 1004356 will be awarded something very special- a one of a kind Multitool.org Black Oxide Leatherman Surge!





This was donated (and laser etched) by the fine folks at Leatherman specifically for this occasion, and I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone at Leatherman Tool Group for being with us on this momentous occasion.

We will also have some other goodies we put together hastily that I will announce as soon as they are ready- unfortunately we had a bit too short of a lead time for such a busy season, but we will be making these custom CRKT Eat'N Tools available to members soon:



There are only 50 of them, so they will be really neat collector's items.  I'll have more info when they are available.

Last but certainly not least, let's remember why we did this- our good friends who are no longer with us, Travis Autry and John Snay, aka Hawkchucker.





Two very great men who really did have a hand in shaping this place.  And I mean that- it's not the usual platitude given to departed friends, John was nice enough to invite Bob, Joe and I into his sanctuary in Maine for a weekend, had his own usergroup created just so he could have a purple name on the forum and is the only person I know to have acted out his (and mine!) favorite smiley.

 

It was amazing how closely he actually resembled that one!

Travis was, well, he was behind much of this site, from designing the logo to trying to make sense of a lot of the ideas I've had for this place, and SOSAK prior to the creation of MTO.  I wasn't sure how we could go on without him around here, and even now the void he's left is still causing problems- he may not have had a high post count, but he was the backbone of this site.

So, to each of them I say thank you for everything, and we will not forget you.  to their families I say Thanks for letting us share in the wisdom that was Travis and the wonder that was John.

To the rest of you I say thanks for continuing their influence and keeping Multitool.org as vibrant as it ever was.  As long as we are here, John and Travis will live on.
