CRKT Septimo
on: November 13, 2020, 04:12:40 AM
A new MT from CRKT :woohoo: This apparently was released yesterday :o :like:

The CRKT Septimo  Designer: Jeremy Valdez. Olalla, WA

They are never afraid to do something different :salute:

A 2.86" tanto blade with a single Veff Serration, Philips and flathead screwdriver, adjustable wrench, bottle opener, and glass breaker :like:

I am glad to see an adjustable wrench being used as the basis vs. pliers :salute: I have both a Guppie and Lil Guppie from CRKT and although nice they are both on the small size and don't get much use ::) I really hope this one opens up more and perhaps I will try to get one of these sometime or another to try out :tu:

Any thoughts? :D

They've certainly kept it quiet. This is the first time I am hearing of it.

My only problem is the glass breaker on the end of the wrench--that will make getting it tight spaces a pain. But, otherwise, I really like the design. Hopefully the window breaker is just screwed in like on most knives, and removable with most pliers.

Looks like that wrench is quite decent---looks like it'll open up close to what a 6" Crescent does.

Half the tool is the driver, bottle opener notch, and bit storage. It's like the design is a hodge podge of implements and features. The glass-breaker on the wrench tip is an after-thought.
The Skeletool is essentially the same tools, but is a more attractive package.

:iagree: that the glass breaker is in an odd spot as well  hopefully it is removable as cody said :salute:

Perhaps with SHOT shut down this coming year, more of the companies will reveal tools in the next couple months instead of all at once :dunno:

So we need to be on the lookout :ahhh

:iagree: but it frustrates me to see them release products without doing enough development and QA to make them work really well though.

Ooo, the toothed curved faces on that adjustable wrench looks like it can round off nuts and bolts even more efficiently than a normal adjustable wrench!

Nice!

I like that CRKT is willing to do weird stuff, but as you say, it sometimes feel like they get halfway through R&D and say sod it, take the prototype to production!

That strap cutter on the bottom of the blade is just dumb. If you've passed the strap, webbing, seatbelt, all the way down to the strap cutter passed a sharp blade, you've probably cut it already, an if your purpose in using a strap cutter is not to stab someone you're rescuing, well good luck with this knife.

And yes, whole one side fir the bit holder and bottle opener

It's a good idea that wasn't thought through to the end and was probably rushed out the door to meet the ShotShow deadline. They could have stopped it and worked on it some more once it was clear there would be no ShotShow this year.

MSRP is fair at least considering what we've seen from the other makers in the last few years. :salute:

I could see the Veff serration being useful for fishing line or paracord but honestly, the design doesn't do it for me. I think it looks like it would be uncomfortable to use.

I think if they had of done away with the bottle opener and slimmed the handle down more then it would have made a much better knife :salute:
