Combo Wrench

I picked this monstrosity up last year. Chinese made, I ended up buying it when no one outbid my minimal offer.  Useful? Maybe.

Why does this exist?!

Bahco do one I can't understand with an alligator wrench at one end and an adjustable at the other.

The older Bahco's are very collectable. Why? I'm sure it solves a problem, but heck if I know what it is.

Snap-on has a lineman's wrench that is similar.  The last three auction were all sold north of $200 US with one going for $275.

Why does this exist? Because it's awesome.

Id like one in my toolbox.

Ps

A alligator wrench will remove stripped nuts that would slip off the adjustable.   :tu:

The Bahco is definitely on my want list.

A little more on the original tool posted. I should have added something for scale.

It weighs in at 1.2 pounds.  The adjustable wrench opens to 1.25 inches and has a 1.25 inch scale etched on it.  The ratchet is the standard half inch reversible.  It feels pretty smooth, but it definitely isn't a top quality ratchet.

It´s funny this summer a friend of mine (a plumber) saw an older version of that tool in my toolbox picked it up and said "Do you know what this tool is for"
And he explained that is a very high valued tool for plumbers and said that there is no plumber in Sweden that doesn´t have that tool.
I don´t know very much about plumbing but apperently working with pipes it´s a must have. :)

I guess the Bahco one has the alligator side for smaller bolts/nuts, where the adjustable head may not be exact enoiugh and for rusted/damaged stuff, where the adjustable head will slip?!

Probably more a local thing than plumbing business related.

I´ve never seen a plumber having one of them here in Germany.
Have fun.

Michael

They sell all kinds of those at tractor supply. Mostly Chinese made, they even have the option of getting 1/4, 3/8, or 1/2 drives on the adjustable wrench.

I imagine they come handy when you only have a few tools to carry on a tractor, atc, boat, etc.

You never know, it could save the day eventually.
