My $15 Swisstool!!!
on: July 15, 2008, 10:51:52 AM
After much anticipation my $15 Swisstool arrived yesterday :mail: . Initially I thought it was a spirit but it is a Swisstool. I bought it from a  Aussie Ebay seller who only had a feedback score of 1 , so I took a punt and got very very lucky :D :D.http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/multimat426/multitools/3c542c0e.jpg[/img]]           I like the BO finish more than I thought it I would , the tool seems to have very little use the main blade is a little blunt though.http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/multimat426/multitools/d4662a89.jpg[/img]].                   The only problem I have found is the tools are stiffer than a teenager at a bikini contest  :( . The tools felt a little sticky so I gave it a damned good clean with soapy water which made a little difference , so I gave it a clean with methylated spirits & a good lube . One  side freed up nicely but the saw side is still ridiculously tight , I have to use a metal lever to open the tools. Once 1 tool is out the rest come out easily like the tools are too tightly held together. I will keep working on it tonight , for $15 it was a real bargain so I am  :D :D ++.                                                             http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll287/multimat426/multitools/57844f1e.jpg[/img]]

Great score there fella :D

I think the seriel number are from your army mate (you Aussies had the good sence to make it your issue tool) :)

As for the individual tool's being a bit tough to get out, is it significantly harder than the one you gave to your mate ???

Yes the tools are a lot harder to get out than the ones on the X I gave as a gift . The odd thing is one side freed up nicely but the other has not at this stage. If it was a LM I would say the fasteners need loosening  The army serial number makes a lot of sense as the seller is selling other army issue equipment , you are a clever cookie Micky

Well it'd be immodest of me to point out just how clever I really am :D

Hmm, it might be worth you sending it back to Vic to have it serviced, the only possible problem with that is the fact that it's an ex service tool, so I'm not sure if the warrenty will still be valid :-\, so it might be worth droping them an email and a couple of pictures first ;)

A couple of hours of working at it have freed up both sides . The tool between the main blade & the chisel/stripper , the stuby large screwdriver catches a little on the tools either side of it when locking into position , but it is not too bad. As a service tool it seems to be in remarkably good condition with only the Phillips screw driver showing signs of use , the blades look like they have their original edge so I just need a sheath for my new swiss friend.  :D :D :D Mat.

Don't you think it's about time to get some BO?   :pok:

The Swisstool and the Spirit S have really nice BO.   8)

Remember you don't have to justify the purchase. All you have to do is want them.  :D

First it's     then  :gimme: then  :mail: then  :D
