New to the forum....
on: December 27, 2014, 03:14:51 PM
Hi all

Just thought I'd make myself known :)

Having Just acquired an Cybertool lite as my latest SAK for christmas after a 10 year gap since my Swiss Champ, I found these forms and have started to read about modding etc :)

Thus far I have/had

Red Camper/Camping - no longer own.  Binned it last year as I thought it was too manky/ far gone.  That was before I found out you can recondition the things :(  Had hard use - I made Airfix kits when I was younger, didn't really look after it and it got covered in paint.  Sorry now as it was my first SAK at the age of 12 after "borrowing" my dad's for so long.  Also it was a gift from my parents. :(  As I say I wish I had kept it, knowing what I know now.  Might have to get another to commemorate it but wont be the same  ::)

Red Explorer - Still got and has been my everyday / go-to knife.  Still in reasonable contition, but could probably do with sharpening and a new set of tweezers/toothpick.

Black Swiss Champ - Show off piece.  Has come in handy a few times and still, "like new" - reserved for special occasions - left the grubby jobs to the Explorer  :D  However at the moment I don't know where it is *scowls*

Newly Acquired  :-

Cybertool Lite -  I work with computers a lot, I thought the bits would come in handy  and it is lighter and easier to carry than the champ.  Currently unused as I just got it.  Nearly bought a Leatherman, but saw this instead.  Might try and get an adapter to fit my numerous other bits from various socket sets.

On it's way  :-

Soldier - cos I always wanted a "Big" knife lol.  This one might just be a "Collector" though, can't see me having any need/want to be out and about with it. Not that I'm Rambo but still.

Wants:

I thought my Champ was the daddy lol I then Saw the XLT.  :gimme: (Yes I know theres the XAVT but the price for that is loony tunes)

Had the opportunity on a new Mauser a few years ago but didnt snap it up... wish I had, so that or a Walther if I can find one that is not too "used"

Modding questions:

Where do people go to get new Scales ?  I'm in the UK if that helps ? This will probably be about the extent to which I go.  Anything else will require someone doing it for me (disability and lack of um tools lol)

Anyhoo thats enough of me rambling for now.

Pics - cant at the moment as not near my kit...

Cheers

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Welcome!  The forum thinks I am new because it has been years since I posted, just got back into the forums while I was home sick.  I was active 7 or 8 years ago or so...

Welcome aboard...

Looks like you've a good collection going.

Be careful of that alox stuff.....it's catchy and they tend to multiply like crazy. ;)

Thanks for the welcome all. :tu: The Soldiers knife is the big green handled locking one, not the alox. :)

Welcome to MTo, you have some of my favorites with the Explorer the Swisschamp.  My Swisschamp sees a lot of pocket time and while I agree its certainly a show piece the XLT/XAVT are show stoppers.

Welcome!

The Explorer is one of my favs and I did carry one for a few years off/on.  Now I am trying out the Ranger to see if it can replace the Explorer in my EDC.  Vic Ranger pic below!

The Swisschamp is and always will be a Vic Icon!  I dont carry one as I think it is alittle think for me and not a fan on belt pouches but I have one in my desk to use for computer work or any other chores that might come up while at my desk!  :)

OOO I like that blue!

But yes the champ is a bit chunky/heavy for EDC for me.  Even though I do have a belt pouch for it.

EDIT:-

Boring deskbound Pic of my Cybertool attatched lol.

The Champ XLT would be nice but the cyber is probably more manageable as a carrier...

Welcome to the forum. :waving:

Nice collection you have so far. :tu:

Regarding the scales. As you're in Europe, maybe check with your local Victorinox distributor first.

Or these shops.

(Image removed from quote.)

Well you're just going to have to add some alox. Old cross alox soldier or electrician. And of course an alox minichamp as well to compliment.

:)
