A few random photos that DO deserve their own thread

i'm a great believer in looking around me,of looking at monuments and dedication stones and plaques...you never know what you'll find :pok:

Take this as case in point

Kingston Upon Thames Spiritualist Church. About a half mile from the gates of Blamington Hall, and on he way to the Post Office parcel centre. Not the usual subject of interest to MTo members

I doubt the Welbeloves are any better known to you than they are to me,but this next chap is quite well known

Well you have to give us a bit more info. ;) Was A.C.D. a local to your neighborhood back in his days? Why is that plaque there?

Not too familiar with your UK customs.

Here if such a plaque is put on a building, it's mostly cause the person was born there or lived there at some point.

Conan Doyle,in his later years, was a great proponent of Spiritualism. He also got involved in the case of the young girls who had claimed to take photos of fairies. I've a half notion he was involved with ceremonial magic through The Golden Dawn,or one of its successors.

I thought it was fascinating that this little, rundown little church in the back of nowhere had had the creator of Sherlock Holmes be the guest of honour at its opening...
