The postal services told me that it probably ripped through the envelope in a sorting machine given the fact that it's a heavy tool which was packed in a padded envelope.

Anyway. Called the postal services again today and they told me they spreaded a "search for" order to all points that my tool travelled to/from.
They asked me for a pic and description the day before.

If it has been sorted as "object not deliverable" already, it should be on it's way to HQ where they'll compare it to the "search for" list. This may take up to 2 weeks.

If I don't hear back from them within 2 weeks, it's a goner...

"probably ripped through the envelope in a sorting machine"?!

How rough are those machines?! If they handle padded envelopes, they shouldn't apply so much force on them (which they had to do, in order to rip the tool from it). Still, if that was the case, didn't it cause any alarm or disruption in the machine?! A heavy tool, bouncing inside it?!

 ??? ???

I wonder if these are the same machines as the ones that handle bits of paper(aka normal envelopes, like stuff from the bank) just fine.

Sorry about the tool Nick! Crossing my fingers that it finds it's way to you!

Hopefully you get lucky, M-Nizzle!

And yes, those automated sorting machines can be rough, especially with envelopes with heavy metal objects in them instead of paper
