So after reading thru this thread, and curious to play with the Mora, if I wanted stainless steel for the blade, the Compainion is about the choice?

Or perhaps the black Bushcrafter?

I know "tough" is entirely subjective, but just from the reading, the Bushcrafter seems to be the more hardy of the two?

I'll admit that Laplander is pretty cool looking, but has a cool looking price tag as well. :)

The Bushcraft Black is carbon...super tough construction. The reg Bushcraft is Sandvik Stainless. Very good steel and construction but the carbon one is beefed up for HD use!

There's got to be easier ways to ruin a piano

The "flex one way but not the other" video has got me intrigued. That's quite an extreme difference of what the blade can take in different directions, even if the blade was weakened in the initial direction.

I know moras have been used as a beater blade by some people, but I've not used one that hard. I tend to use softer bladed full tang knives for the "ugly" work, as I am confident they will deform rather than break if overworked.

Ah, yeah my bad....The forest is what I meant with the SS blade. Bit different blade and handle shape as compared to the companion. Looks a little more utilitarian to me, but what do I know. Lol. So many knives, so little time.

Yeah, that one is....little nicer tacticool look over the standard forest. They're priced really low so that's why I'm curious about them. Haven't really paid attention much to them. Always kinda limped them into cheapie knives but maybe that was an error on my part. Spendy doesn't always mean decent.*

**Should have added that I should have already known that from the SAK world. :)

I kind of wonder, are those thicker stock Mora knives good at cutting/slicing? I was perusing a Bushcraft one (in its clamshell) and it seemed too thick to take advantage of the scandi grind. Overall, it didn't look like a all-around user to me but chances of me testing one are rather slim.

In my experience the thicker blades ones slice well. The thinner ones will slice stuff like cardboard a little bit easier, but I havent had any issues with the thicker ones.

Gareth:
The No2 is a great little crafts knife! :tu:

That sheath looks great!
Mora really should make some leather sheaths for their knives that you could buy separately.

I know others have already done it, but I thought I'd add my own comparison between the standard Classic No1 and the Classic No2/0.  Suddenly the No1 feels like a big knife. :D

Thank you Grathr. I am not used to knives with such a thick spine, in fact I have almost zero experience with them.

I wish they'd make a Mora Companion Heavy Duty in stainless and a less "swollen" handle.

Wating to see what this full-tang Mora will be like  :ahhh

I just checked, and the Hultafors craftsman does have a thicker blade than the Mora 511.
Mora 511 is the red one, Hultafors the orange one.

The bonus is those Hultafors HVK (carbon steel with the plain orange handle) are so cheap, it's almost not worth resharpening them!

More info about the new Mora Garberg here:
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1108554552510427&id=178006042231954

MSRP of $100... 110 with leather sheath...
That is a bit pricy for a Mora IMO.
