Storky that would be perfect. Mind if I ask where you got it.

Or if your looking to sell it?
I got a Compact yesterday and it is the perfect tool set so if I could get that with Stag handles would be over the moon

Cheers

Hi,

here are some great modders at MTO so I'm sure you can find someone who do this for you.
Mine was modded by a German ebayer who sells SAKs with custom made stag scales. I asked
him for modding my compact some years ago.

Storky your killing me ha ha. Both look fantastic but the Compact would be ideal.

The link doesn't work unfortunately. Thank you for trying though

Yupp, the Compact is the better one for daily (urban) carry.

Hope, this link works. If not search for ebay user "freso".

Gee whiz Karl, you have some nice stuff!!!

I used to have one of those Puma hunters but stupidly sold it.

Thanks!

Actually there's not a Puma there. Herbertz, Weidmannsheil, Linder, and Wenger.

Also have a made-in-Italy Beretta with stag handles (shown with a Browning and Cabela's). I was a general knife collector for a number of years before specializing in SAKs.

Wow, that Linder is a close copy of it!

That's a pretty common pattern of German hunting knife. Boker also offered one at one time (not sure if its still available). Unfortunately in recent years the prices have gone through the roof.

Hey there.
Just inherited this vintage SAK.
I have established it was made between
1976 and 1986 VSSR/OS but no idea as to
its value. Can anyone help or is there anyone
interested in purchasing it?
Cheers 👍🏻

It may help if you post it with the tools open, so that it can be easier to see if it was made originally with stag covers or if these were added later, as well as to be easier to find the age and the model.

Doesn’t look original to me. And those pliers are at least 1989+. Sorry to bear bad news.

As suggested above, we can suggest more accurate values if it’s opened up and the tools and more views are shown. With the one pic, I would estimate $20-$50 at auction. My guess is that it’s a Champ with swapped scales.

Thanks for the info gadges. Vert grateful. Please see attached a photo of the knife opened.
The knife was owned by renowned steampunk artist, the late Ken Coulbeck who exhibited at Leicester Art Gallery. in England.
Any more info regarding the knife would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers gadges

The knife is from 1990. Maybe it’s worth more to someone who know or collects his work. But with the reprofiled/oversharpened blade, I don’t think it would fetch very much at auction.  :dunno:
