A hello from Wales
on: July 18, 2008, 02:10:50 AM
Hello all,  glad to be a member of the forum.

I'm Richard and I live in the land of Wales.  I've been collecting sharp and stabby things for a long time, including swords, axes, multitools, knives etc.  Have a great love of the outdoors and martial arts; areas in which I find most use for my collection.  Currently EDCing my Swisstool spirit - a tool with which I am very impressed (though I miss a pointy blade so I pair it up with a surge for the heavier duty stuff).  Found the site a few months back and have been lurking since.  Must say I'm very impressed with the reviews on the frontpage and the helpful responses on the forums.  I thought it was time to come into the light and say hello.

Current tool list includes:
Multis - Old style wave (my old friend), LM pulse, LM sideclip, LM crunch, LM surge, LM charge TTi, LM Juice KF4, LM juice pro, LM juice XE6, LM minitool, LM flair, Victorinox swisstool Spirit, Coleman Prolock, gerber shortcut and crunch, gerber eclipse, gerber solstice, coast toolbox, LM squirt e4, other cheap (but well used) tools.
SAK - Sportsman (my first ever knife), Ranger, Workchamp, Rescue tool.
Knives - lots.  Newest ones are a fox M.P.S.K, fox multi hunter and Ka-Bar Fin tanto (solid as hell).
Swords - mainly Katanas

Enough for now, though pales in comparison to some of the mighty collections I have seen on this site.  Next in line are a SOG powercut and powerlock (and a Jian soon).

Glad to meet you all, I look forward to taking part and hope I can be of help to some.

Cheers,
Rich.

Thanks all for the welcomes!

Are you around Pembrokeshire then? It is a beautiful part of the world down there.
I go down there from time to time.  Currently spend most of my time in and around Swansea as I work there.  The Gower and the Brecon Beacons are good mind.

Welcome to the forum, Richard! What are your thoughts on the SURGE?
I'm impressed with the tool - its a serious piece of kit.  Feels quite heavy but I like that, and it certainly gets the job done when you need it to.  I've only had it for a month, quickly became a favourite of mine.

this forum seems to have a bad way to generate an addiction :D.

Ha ha!  I already have the addiction, though I'd wager it'll get worse now I'm here:)   I have the fixed Ka-Bar plain tanto, so I can't comment on the folder sorry.  I can say the sheath system is excellent though - you can shake the thing around hard and it doesn't come loose.  It is molded to fit the form of the handle and holds it in fast.  It might work loose after some use, but its holding fast right now.  I would definitely recommend it.

Welcome to the forum mate, always great to have another Brit along :)
Cheers bud.  I notice your banner there, are you a 40K addict as well as multitool addict?

Welcome to MT.O  :salute: Nice to meet you there Richard :D Nice list of MTs and such  :o a much larger list than mine I must say ;) Hope I can remedy that though :D
I've found ebay to be a great source of multi's, I spent too much money there .  I have an "I want" list about fifty times longer than an "I have" list though:)

yeah be careful, I have been trying to snort the leatherman mini  :D
.
Ouch!  Did you need surgery for that?:)

Cheers guys, great to be here.  Pics to follow tomorrow!:)

Rich.

I "stopped collecting" 40k a few months back, but still look into it from time to time.  I own far too many novels from the black library.  I sort of drifted away from it, but I'm sure the withdrawal shakes will set in at some point :D

The Black Library really has been out doing itself lately what with the Horus Heresy books :) , so don't leave it to long mate :D
