I think the scouting experience can vary a lot. First, it varies depending upon which age levels you participated in (scouts, cubs, venturers, etc.). But more so, I found it varied a lot from troop to troop. At some of the larger jamborees, I remember meeting troops from around the world and there was a lot of variety in how everyone did things, and in what they did as well. There were large formal troops that did all the official activities, and there were very small close knit groups who had all kinds of whacky adventures. And then there is the group dynamic as well, with all types of different leaders and personalities. Ah, I hadn't thought about those times in years. Man, those were fun times.
