I started in cub scouts and ended up getting my Eagle in 2007. After a few years away from scouting, I got bored and this year will be my third working at summer camp. Sure is a fun job, but I think this is the last year for me. I have to join the real world eventually.

I was a Cub Scout and then a Webelo.  Quit for sports and hanging with my buddies who weren't into scouting.

Now my boy is a Tiger, and I'm his Asst. Den Leader.  Hoping he stays with it till Eagle, so that I can stay involved, too.  ;)

I was a cub for a few years. I quit for another organization (some Christian fraternity) where I continued camping etc but there wasn't any paramilitary spirit. I would continue otherwise. My first encounter with a Victorinox was in the cubs but I only had a Camillus four blade folder.

I was in scouts from age 12 to 14. I didn't really fit in but it was OK. We had some fun, went on some trips, learned some things. Don't know the names of the ranks in english, I was in the Wolves squad and was ( ) squadron chief lieutenant ( ) for a year with my copper arrow. The troop got dissolved due to lack of sufficient members. Kids downtown you see. I don't know if I'd have continued anyways. And that's all :D

I was in the cubs back in the 80s. Itchy shorts, socks and jumper.  All rounded off with a silly cap. Still had a great time as a cub even making a sixer.

Completed my Eagle Rank in 1999.  :salute:

Like you said, Pacu, there are many things I miss about Scouts, but the biggest is probably camping out every month.  My oldest son will be able to join Tiger Cubs next year; I can't wait to get back into Scouting.  :tu:

Cub Scouts up to getting my Eagle in 2005. Also spent a good chunk of time with OA and got Brotherhood, was up for Vigil several times, but never got it. Oh well, I have zero regrets.  I loved all my time there.

I've had many conversations with guys from my patrol on how much we miss it. I wouldn't mind doing scoutmaster or assistant scoutmaster some day, we'll see.

i got into OA as it was a necessary step but i never really got into it like my friends. They'd go all out with the indian effects. I was more into Explorer and Venture scouting. Our Explorer post was a non-offical offical post. Figure that one out.  ::)

Went to Philmont several times...did Rayado there...i want to go back one day before i get too old to summit Mt Phillips and Baldy again. I'm 38 now..

I made it to Philmont when I was 14... talk about an amazing experience.  :tu:  Mt. Phillips and Baldy were amazing, but standing on top the Tooth of Time was the most memorable for me.  :)

Fish camp and ute meadows were my favourite camps. Some of those backwoods rayado campsites were awe inspiring but secretive.

I spent my youth in Scouts. Made Eagle in 85. Was Asst. then Scoutmaster. Health took me away in 96. Never was lucky enough to have kids so I help my nephew. He made Order of the Arrow last week. -proud Uncle--

Did any of you make the Shiloh Civil War Battlefield trip? I'm lucky to have been born and raised on the border of it.

Anyone ever get sent for a left handed smoke shifter when you went camping? That was an initiation task when I was a Boy Scout. We always sent the new guys looking for it and yes, sadly, I was one of them

Our leaders would see how much we retained by loading us up in the back of a truck, drive out into the middle of the deep east texas piney woods at night and dump us off with a map and compass. Find your way back..there is the first marker.  Trial by fire. Orienteering merit badge training.  >:D

Also they would give you two matches for a whole weeks worth of camping. Wilderness survival merit badge. Protip...bug spray is an awesome firestarter in wet weather. ;)

I was aScout, made Eagle in 1997.  My troop was actually one of the oldest in the US, we were authorized to wear a 75 year tab under our troop number since 1993.  I attended the 1993 National Jamboree, and many different camps throughout the US.  One of the neatest was Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco.  Its claim to fame?  It's better known as Camp Crystal Lake from the original Friday the 13th!  :ahhh  As to left-handed smoke shifters, that was mild.  If you want to know just how much duct tape it takes to keep a Tenderfoot attached to a wall in a cabin for over an hour, I'm your man.  :D  "Hazing builds character" seemed to be our leader's motto.......
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

Most susessful version of that was to send someone off for a 'long stand'.

"Billy, can you go to the Quartermaster and ask him for a long stand please?"

"What's that you need Billy?  A long stand?  I've got one around here somewhere, just you wait here a minute while I go look for it........."

You would be these days Chrissy, most Scout groups started letting in girls years ago.  For some reason the Girl Guides have never followed suit and let boys join up.
