London Classic Car Show:Part 1 The Bikes
on: January 26, 2015, 10:09:36 PM
So a couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to get a couple of free tickets to the press night of the London Classic Car Show, being held for the first time at the Excel Center out in the Docklands.

I gave Crazy Al a shout and off we went >:D

This thread is going to over the motor bikes. There weren't that many, but OMG what there was was nice!

Lets start with a Mythical beast...a Egli-Honda CBX :ahhh

And there were real MV Agustas :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

OK,ive seen a bunch of different MVs over the years including seeing Ago ride a Triple, but still, its something special

Not historic enough? OK no problem, how about a Indian board racer?

Or how about a Gilera Saturno San Remo?

As I was trying to say last night...

I can get the idea of a single cam CB750 at a show for classics, but this?

Hell! I can remember it being on the cover of BikeSA when it was launched!

What these are I've no idea, except to say the single was a Yamaha block, maybe an XT500?,and the Twin was a Hinckley Triumph

It looks like an SR500, the road version of the XT500, as you rightly say it has the XT lump, but that fuel tank looks very like the SR version, so I reckon it is a much modded SR  :)

Those 70s. 80s bikes are really nice. I remember drooling after them and sitting on them in the local Suzuki and Honda dealers. (I did go around in/on a Honda for a while but its a secret..)
After that most companies got heavily into aerodynamics and most bikes have looked the same, to me, for the past 30 years
