That is a fascinating piece of craftsmanship ausjulius, thanks for sharing it with us! Think of the time someone must have spent creating it........

Question: what do you suppose this tool is?

That is exactly what I was thinking! A 1930's version of the "mecto ynopa" we looked at a couple months ago.

Few people know that the internet was alive and well in the early 30's in Russia.  The only problem was that no one had computers to access it!

That is an interesting and beautiful looking tool.  It would be nice to see how that tool compared to a modern multi, both in to days world and its 'native' time.

Место упора  , it would be written as "measto oupora"  measto is a place , and oupora is a emphasis.. so place of emphasis, or point of force,
this does look just like the tool that was on here some months ago, thats why i put it up here, ive never seen anythign quite like it,

in soviet russia you dont access the internet the internet access you !  ::) ::)  :D  couldnt help that one :d..

THEORY:  At least, from the lion drawing, it may be a possible import from mMongolia/northern china.  or constructed on the russian side of the border(due to the cross-cultural influences of the time)

Some run from breaks of ice, and answer none:

Hello folk,

i have recently found the origin of this tool , and it is not at all russian , and is rather  quite old, proably around 100 years old  or somewhat more.

It is italian, and specilicaly from the region of tuscany..

these style of  knife were popular starting from around 1800 for hunters,, and normaly this style of  etching was common,,
 this is a complexed exsample,,

the tool we all could not figuer out is so obvious,, it sia nipple wrench for a percussion  guns nipple, proably a shotgun ,

actualy these percussion guns were used in southern europe  untill 1900 or so.. as they were cheap to shoot.

the hammer is for   hitting a drift to move sites and for other work..

this tool is a common italian item for a hunters kit of the   19th centuary..

hope this helps..

there is 2 firms from russia that do to this day market a multitool...  however these are  modern items , hat are quite different than this,

yes some are i suspect some  are now not always..

ill upload fotos later..

to tools from noks ,, there is about 4 different tools.. i think they were made for the owner of noks my saro or meta-k  which are both  firms producing steel products, saro makes a large range of knives,

there is another firm making  a funky  large multitool plier..

there is amny makers making combination tool knives, but these are still all mainly a knife.......

ii can post these products too, but they have no plier head on them ,

they  are like  a  folding hatchet spade tool , with  tools attacked and butterfly knife type tools with many tools in the handle.. ect ect.. only 2 frims have a plier multitool

Wow, awesome looking tools!

They look like something from an alternate universe...they are similar to a lot of western designs..but have subtle differences.
