Another Spork
on: February 21, 2015, 05:42:09 PM
This one is by Alocs. It is featherlight, well made, and a delight to use. I paid under $4.00USD shipped. In other words, it eats well! Mine was a dx.com purchase but they are all over.

Honestly, I was shocked at how good it is. I've had a number of different ones over the years both plastic & metal but this one slays them all. There is nothing flimsy or cheap about it and it truly disappears in my day pack.

I've looked at these in the past and thought they looked a little flimsy.  If you say they aren't, maybe I might take another look.

I have the REI version of that spork.  I find it tends to fold when used hard. (Spearing stew meat for example)

I bought a few of the SS ones a year ago for about $2 or something similar.
They have a sliding lock that keeps them reasonably solid.
However, when tested, the SS ones, did have higher than expected Nickel levels on the actual spork (but none on the SS handle) so beware if you are extra sensitive to nickel.

I've not had that happen but I can see how it could. The "lock" sits in place with slight friction. When I hold it, my thumb ends up right on top of it and stays put. This position is comfortable and seems natural to me. So far... it hasn't folded up in use. It does spear but not anywhere as effective as an actual fork. I tend to use it in conjunction with the side of the bowl I am eating from to get food onto it.

I thought so too looking at the pic but for the price figured I could weather any disappointment if it was a total POS.

After having it for awhile though I would not hesitate to recommend it.
