What recent outdoor activity did you do?
on: February 23, 2015, 05:51:08 PM
We all tend to post what we've done separately ( our own threads ) and I especially love those.  I was thinking was a quicker way to share with others what we've done outdoors for those who didn't want to start their own thread.  So if you've taken a walk, went for a quick hike, boated, biked, or even worked in your garden post up what you've done.

I'll start,

Sunday we did a 4 mile hike with an elevation gain of 1400ft.  I was with my youngest ( 15 ) and my roommate ( her age is her secret ) on an overcast day since we had a threat of rain all day.  This was perfect for such steep ascent to the first of 2 summits we decided to forgo the second peak for another time.

I walked to class if that counts. And when I get home I'll be walking to the beer cooler from the hammock.

I tried not to get too cold. Does that count?

I also put gas in my Jeep....

I live a mundane life.  I raked leaves and mowed grass this weekend.

Laid on the freakin' cold ground to turn off the water on a frozen and broken water line.  Then dug out the icy dirt.

Then shoveled snow and ice from around the barn doors.

Hammered up a few boards that came off.

Swapped a Quickattach bucket over to a snow plow and then back after the plowing was done.

Shoveled shavings into horse stalls.

Oh, and cut down two damaged pine trees.

I went outside to get the mail and walked carefully in order to not fall on my butt :) It's a freaking ice rink out there.

Just a bit of gardening for me. Pruned back the jostaberry and blackcurrants, all the blueberry bushes, black elderberry, rose bush, quince and all the herbs. Weeded out the ramsons, harvested some dahlia yams, and removed a lot of dead foliage from various areas. Repaired the back fence, and slayed a couple of triffids that were trying to invade from next door.

I did a couple of hours agility training with my dogs and a couple of friends with their dogs this morning.  By 11:45am it was getting too hot so I packed it in and drove home.

I went for a nearly 5 mile bike ride last night after work. Nice to have more daylight and get out and keep the legs in running order.

9 Mile ride today, gave my beater a good shakedown. It really needs a tune-up, that's probably in the works for next week. I can't wait to get to the skatepark.

While we lived in the mountains when I was just a kid I'm so glad mom decided she like the beaches more. Great you get out regardless and am I to assume you are still in your shorts?  Your poor mom must have chased you around the house with warmer clothes on when you were a little one

I was out for a little hike with some friends a couple of weeks ago.  Not what you'd call lovely weather, but actually nicer than the forecast said it was going to be. :D

Path?  What path?  All I can see is this pond.......

Rolling hills of the Scottish Borders.

A very welcome wee bothy to stop and have a bite of lunch in.

Me admiring the view.

Heading home.
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.

I was actually going for this kind of vibe:

 :D

Silly, I know, but it was actually pretty comfortable and pleasant to walk in.  Especially nice was to not have that "swish" of Gore-Tex rubbing against itself.

Oh no mention of that, I'm just foolish :D. Had shorts on for my ride today, I think the high while I was riding was around 32 or so.

Walked down the beach and fished for awhile.

Spring breakers are here, trash everywhere, they all drive "daddy's money" trucks, and the town is dead until lunch time because they are all hungover

Gareth your countryside is gorgeous.  Looks like a nice day out especially when good weather brings annoying bugs.

Any wild life out at this time?  Last outing we had we saw a bunch of deer out, some wild turkeys, and wood peckers.
