Idyllic, Zoid!

To gallop along in such beautiful landscape and lie in a field seeing shapes in the clouds...brings a curl up one side of my mouth

That brings me back to being a kid living in the Adirondacks. Only we used a 55 gallon drum and had a grated top for it

Saw your pics of deer on the previous page. How'd you get so close?

Yesterday we woke up at 4:30am, got ready, left by 5:30 and headed out on a two hour drive to a Beagle club with Scout (my avatar and the ThundahBeagle of my name here). We attended an AKC Field Trial there. They were running small pack 13 inch bitches, but I brought Scout (15 inch male) anyway. Wanted to see the club, meet the officers, walk the grounds and get to know people there.

This was all in advance of joining a club and running my dog in the field trials as well. And, maybe attracting some cute, lady Beagle to mate with Scout and create my family of Super Beagles. We shall see...he is an indoor dog, and many of these dogs live outside in kennels - even in our winters. Most say that indoor dogs are at a disadvantage of less conditioning. I agree, but we hike some pretty rocky territory on the weekends, and Scouts family tree is a very positive indicator of how he will behave on the scent. We shall see.

I sooo want a 55gal drum!
The deer, well that’s their side of the fence and even though it’s says right on the fence “do not feed them” people will drive by and just dump food over the fence, so their kinda used to getting close I guess, don’t get me wrong that one bolted after the dog barked!

Was just out mowing the lawn for the first time ever, I must say even though that lawnmower is self propelled it is a pain to turn! I hope the more I run it, it will break in and become easier..

Sounds like come late summer, I just set up a table right there. We had a garden when I was a kid. Only less than half the green beans ever made it into the basket, they were so darn snappy

Five mile hike with Scout the ThundahBeagle today. Our second such outing this spring. No pictures, as we were busy "doing."

No place special or exotic, but a series of 200 foot high hills strung together and rocky terrain. I find it helpful to do this over and over in the spring to get us both into shape for the mountains we will be doing later. All rocky. Up 209, down 200, up 200, and so on.

Trying to do as many 4-thousand + footers as possible this year. Being in New England, it usually means an hour or two of driving just to get to the foot of the miuntains, so this nearby reserve with these rocky hills helps at this time of the year
