Approx 2000m. Hoping to be back up that way later this week if the weather allows it.

The little guy saw something and came up with the idea! He says to me, “hey dad, I know something that will make your light look better!” So I asked what? He explains it out and says to put the lantern over the regular light, he wasn’t sure how to make it work so we worked on the workbench and here’s what we came up with..

Awesome pics.   :like:   :like:

The ski thing is fairly new to me, really only picked it up because the youngest wanted to ski.
Have been looking at the tele peeps though and thinking that it looks like fun.

Telemark skiing is the way to IMO especially if you want to go backcountry away from the crowds. That's what we would do, ski on the mountain on powder days until it got tracked up and then head off the ski area and hike into the backcountry. We could get fresh tracks for days after a storm.

Here's a few more old pics, some of me skiing with my old dog Jasper.

Thank Aloha !

I worked for 8 years as a snowmaker on the mountain in Steamboat Springs to get my ski pass for the season. We would work from about a month before the mountain opened and were usually done by Christmas. I would then work in restaurants at night so I could ski during the day.

After three years they made me the foreman of the 2nd shift, here a pic of my crew. That me in the middle in red.

Second pic is of me at the top of a pile of man made snow we made for a terrain park

Third is me hauling in a frozen water hose to thaw out in the shop.

These are really cool pics.  Looks like a great job with super benefits.  I knew a woman who worked for our local mountains for the same benefits.  She would ski/snowboard all season long.  Then in summer she'd come toward to ocean and work restaurants at night so she could surf all season long.  She was a true adventure junkie.

Thanks,
It was a fun albeit a dangerous and physically demanding one. It was perfect for getting in shape for skiing though.  :tu:

Took my "new" skin-on-frame kayak out for it's maiden paddle this morning, mostly to see if it is watertight.  Happily it is. :D  Best guess is that this is late 50's or 60's, but I'll happily be told differently.  Sadly it's not a Folbot, but I learned to paddle in one of them and this is more stable.  No, Molly did not join me in the boat despite this being a two seater.

She's a bit unconvinced by water in general and waves are a firm no-no.  She didn't flip her nut when I was out but did bark to let me know she was there.

ive been training one of my lads to go paddling with me, I had the loan of a sit-on-top, he's getting used to it. he did take a leap from my boat to my daughters  :D. she had no spraydeck on so he was able to sit in the cockpit with her thats ok just messing by the beach but on a journey isn't suitable.
