Went out for 8 miles.  I've been using this backpack and kinda like it for "shorter hikes".

Looks like a great place to hike at for sure!   I think the CS4 is my favorite in the Juice line or maybe it is just the blue scales, IDK but I do also like the S2 in orange!  :)

What pack is it?  I am looking for a small'ish one with quick release's on the front like the Rush 12 or a nice medium size waist pack for my hikes!

Sorry buddy, Its the REI Trail 25L.  Its been a great pack for shorter hikes.  It has space for a water bladder with 2 side mesh pouches for water as well.  I carry a 40oz bottle in one side and 2 16 oz bottles in the other mesh pouch.  I like to keep a energy mix in one water bottle and a hydration mix in the other ( think gatorade ).  My 40 oz bottle is just water.

I've removed the patina on the blade and thinned it out just above the cutting edge.  Totally convex now and man this blade is even more wicked than ever.

Back at it today.  Didn't go as far but did go up a little higher, 1200ft above sea level.  I think we started at about 47ft above .  Brought out my REI Trail 25 again.  This time I made an adjustment so I could use my platypus bottle.  The pack is set up to accept a bladder but I never got the one that goes with the pack.  I typically use a camelback.

I punched a couple holes in each side so I could insert the toggle within the pack.  It worked great.  I got the hose for the platypus as a cheaper alternative.  I am happy with the set up so far.

The pack is enough to carry my gear 10Cs what I feel I want/need.  I'll use my Osprey for longer trips.  Anyway, I carried my large Sod Buster and my Juice CS4 on my belt.  I kept my HEST in my pack.  Yes the sheath has a nut in place of the original hardware.  It doesn't look like it but I've been hard on that sheath.  Within the handle of the HEST is a small ferro rod and tinder quick.  I have my Ti spork and monocular too.  The monocular is a cheap one but its not horrible.

I emptied the platypus but I also had 2 water bottles along for the ride.  I like to mix a gatorade and energy drink to take with me.  A hiking stick is always appreciated especially with the loose rocks.  Going up is not bad but coming down......

All said and done we put in about 7-8 miles.

Spent the Xmas New Years break in the mountains a 6 hour drive north of Vancouver.  Different scenery and snow from the coast - drier and colder with bigger peaks and a higher treeline.

Seeing it was a nice 28 degree day with no wind and a light snow fall, me and the misses decided to go walk a trail or two around a local river!

Nah it wasn't bad!  When you live in Michigan, you get used to it!  :)  Actually we have been lucky as that was from the snow fall we got the other day and the first amount over an inch or two in a long time!  The News/Weather said it was about 6 1/2 inches that fell the other day!  It was nice to be out and with the snow stuck on the trees, it was very cool and made for some great pics!

Great pics fellas !

Thx and in honor to your guy's Swisschamp challenge, I had the Swisschamp with me but didn't take any outdoor pics!  I know, I can't believe it either!   :ahhh
