Different tools for different situations and people... :)

Ain't that what it's all about!

That knife is still sitting on my workbench unpeened.    There are 2 layers that don't behave well with blade rubbing and the like.   I may have to remove 1 layer to make it all work correctly.

There are also 2 alox tools I don't have (sacking needle and the long skinny screwdriver) that aren't going to make it on the knife.

I've messed around with trying to get the Cybertool in the alox frame, but it ain't gonna happen from my bench anytime soon.   Some tools just don't belong in alox i'm afraid...

I haven't really tried to get the alox awl on the cellidor knives, but that may work and allow the endmounted phillips to go with the awl on a cellidor model.

That DLCT is pretty neat!

So, anything to mate with the inline philips besides a magnifying glass?

The philips is sometimes paired with the flashlight, but I think the magnifying glass is a better option for most people. Much better to just throw a fauxton on your keychain if you want a light...

That's really what I figured.

And yet another question, what else pairs well with the alox awl besides the knife, or, conversely, what pairs well with the small blade beside the large blade. If I were to get a custom knife made I'd want the large and small knife blades. I'm amazed at how handy that little blade is.

What tool combination or goal are you are shooting for, and what SAKs do you currently have?

Is it that you currently have a Soldier or Farmer, etc. and are unsatisfied with the can opener/philips head?

It's basically that I'd like to take, say, a Farmer, and add an inline philips and the small blade. With that it seems there would be available space open that could be used for other implements. In my experience the can opener seems to work for some philips screw but not all.

Ah, I understand now. That's a very clear description.

I can't help you since I don't even have any alox yet  and so have no idea what can go where, etc.

But there are definitely many in this thread and on SOSAK who know this stuff literally inside out, so I'll step aside and leave it to them. :D

Cheers, its so small its almost cute :D  ..... did I really say write that out loud.

The reason it's named called Dinky Little is because of the inlay on the scale.  I needed a solid 91mm scale with no slot to fit mirror to normal and my options were limited.  I've no idea who's company logo that actually is

Anyone got an idea?

Neil

So have 2 main blades then.  You could have one serrated and one not,  or one Wharncliffe and one spearpoint, or a spearpoint and a clippoint.

Another  "is there"  question. Is there a model similar to the Waiter, but with a philips instead of a corkscrew?

I am sure someone else will give you a better answer but I don't think so. I think the most minimal SAK with a back-mounted Philips is the Tinker which is 2 layers.

It doesn't seem like it would be a difficult mod though...

I think 2 layers are about as minimalist as I'd want to go :), you could always go down the 84mm Alox route if you really want a compact package :)

Again, not that I am aware.  It is one of the easier mods though.  You don't even have to fully dissassemble the knife....

, , , ,

This one is the NKB TT Waiter,  but this has been done many times before, I wonder if their is an accepted name for this configuration of tools?

Sorry to quote myself, but I was thinking of the original Electrician which had an electricians blade instead of the combi tool.

Pretty cool, but I really want a phillips, flathead and knife. That modded Waiter is perfect.
