Would You Pay $25.00 For These Knives?
on: February 26, 2015, 10:48:54 PM
I looked at these two knives on Amazon and thought they would be worth further consideration.I placed them on my Wish List so I could reference them more quickly when needed.Within a week I received an automated email from Amazon alerting me to a reduced price for this set. When I placed them on my wish list they were selling for $75.00 which included a two knife sheath and a small sharpening instrument.

When I clicked on the link provided to determine exactly what was the new price,I discovered it was $25.00.I thought for sure this was an error and if I ordered this set I would later be informed of the error and not receive the knives. So I took the chance that the email was correct and placed my order.Much to my surprise the order arrived and I was billed $25.00.

These two knives are certainly worth $25.00.They are constructed of D2 steel, which is a good grade of tool steel. It may not be as rust resistant as some other steels but it is a viable steel for working knives. They were also designed by Tim Wegner, who has done knives for Spyderco in the past.

Unfortunately the price was raised back to the original selling price the same day I received them.

What's with the scales? Are they multilayered or are the designs imprinted/painted?

And what's the thing on the back of the large one??

The scales are multi-layered.The under layer is dark green and the top layer is black with paw prints cut into them.

The device on the spine of the skinner is a gut hook which swings out and then locks into position.

The skinner alone looks  to me. If they are usable, and not junk (which I don't think comes in D2) they are certainly worth 25$!  :D

Wait, is this some weird fishing-for-compliments post, like a model tweeting "Im soooo ugly" combined with a perfect portfolio picture? I think the knifes look good, and seeing you paid 25 for a 75 set, even if you don't like them you can sell them for 40-50$ and turn a quick dollar, me thinks.

No,not interested in selling them.I couldn't decide where to place this post.Since these knives were so inexpensive,I thought this would give  me a chance to post in this particular section of this forum.I very rarely, if ever, pay so little and receive good quality.

You should know the old axiom, "you get what you pay for".

It's a shame the seller at Amazon didn't extend their sale price so members here could take advantage of it.

PS:  The subject title was a rhetorical question.

I hear you brother.I buy knives based upon many consideration, some of them being materials, reputation and physical appearance.Although when it comes to hunting hardware, function takes precedent over form.

I do think the little caper has a fine form.
