Can you take some pictures of the "hammer" portion of the backlock?
The spring has failed on the lock. Not a whole lot you can do without taking apart the knife, sorry.
Thanks I don't feel right contacting Spyderco since I got the knife in poor condition. I will get some pictures tomorrow. I'll also give it a good washing as well. The blade being pinned as are the scales makes me hesitate to try unpinning the knife. I'll clean it and take some pics then go from there.
and so long as you do not abuse it in a obvious way Buying old Spydies and having Spyderco sort them out is a bit of a hobby of mine.

I have talked with Sal the owner of Spyderco and so long as you do not abuse it in a obvious way they are happy to back up there warranty.Buying old Spydies and having Spyderco sort them out is a bit of a hobby of mine. Well that and being a sexy beast.

Are you sure it's just not dirty. A little crud can foul a lockback easily.
I feel your dilemma mate. You've got a knife that's obviously had a very hard life and has been pushed to the limit and beyond. Not only that, but it wasn't even you who did the pushing. I will say though that I'm not sure what kind of mistreatment could cause the blade to wear out at that point so, no matter what else has been done to the knife, that's an area that should still be in working order.

One part of me says send it in since what appears to have failed it not related to how much abuse the serrated edge took. I'd imagine the blade was used till it went to crap then the knife was abandoned. I think I'll send it in with a note stating I'm not the original owner and modified the blade to get it into working order. It's gives Spyderco to option like Leatheman to fix or send back. If it wasn't pinned I'd do the work myself.
