Explorer plus
on: March 08, 2015, 08:23:46 PM
Ive ordered a explorer plus from Amazon recently,
The pic showed it had old style mag glass,
But that could just be a sak wiki pic.
It should be here tomorrow , any ideas on which mag glass it will have?

Probably new one, glass in clear plastic housing.

Dealers don't usually notice such differences. I asked a German large scale dealer a year or so ago which they had in stock as they had the old pic in the listing and they said they didn't even notice it and no one mentioned it to them in 8 years. They changed it after that.

I'm sure I will, I'm pretty exited it's always nice to get a new sak,
And after fat sak March  I'm going to edc the explorer for a month solid and see how that goes.i might miss the sak pliers though at work for splinters but I'm sure I'll manage.

i find the explorer a good urban edc as opposed to the huntsman being a good camping/hiking edc, i carry mainly a handyman as a slimmed down swisschamp, you cn never have enough sak's   :salute:

For the past 2 weeks I have been carrying an early model explorer with no plus scales.  Plus scales make every Vic SAK better

A BIG Thanks to the poster who informed me that the mag glass can be used for detailed close up pics

Could be either one depending on what you paid.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

I think the pen is great and the pin is really useful

I really really like Altimeter back scales. They can fit toothpick, tweezers, pen and pin in the same scale.

The top scale could be used for a nice white LED, like the SwissLite.. that would be perfect...

Great Pic,
Made me select the Explorer on a this morning.
I wear it with the Leatherman P4 in coin pocket to also have a small set of pliers.
In my opinion it is great to have the pliers apart if you need to tighten a small screw / nut, the in-line philips and P4 pliers is a winner combo.

I agree.  More utility in the same space.  I add Plus scales wherever possible.

I love many Swiss Army Knives, but the Explorer Plus is my favorite.

I'm quite happy with it but the lense pops out quite easy  but a great sak non the less.
Don't think it will replace my swisschamp or craftsman for edc though, but a good addition to my small collection.

I was the same way when my Explorer came.

Really though it is not an issue. Either it will be folded up inside you SAK and protected or you will be using it to look at stuff and then close it up.

Survived well for 7 months of Afghanistan deployment with no issues.
