Questions that I have asked on there in the past 2 weeks still haven't been answered, and I come here they are answered in the first few days im here! Thanks alot! I think I found a new home for my knife and multi-tool discussions. A place to talk steel, and BS a little bit!!!

Well I am glad you like it here- this place was built with a lot of effort by myself and a few others, but it has exceeded all of our expectations because of the great members.

In fairness to those other sites (I'm also a mod at Knifeforums, although I'm not a BF member, which has a loooong story behind it I won't get into) multitools aren't really their thing.  To them, multitools and SAKs are an offshoot of their main interest, which is knives.  Here we believe that multitools are an industry unto themselves and worthy of note, which is probably why you are getting more immediate and/or detailed responses to multitool questions.  Of course, if you were to ask about the effectiveness of D2 versus ATS-55 in a moderately corrosive environment, we could probably help you, but I imagine  they might be better suited to that!

What he said No really Knifeforum is pretty good as well at least in the SOSAK section I have asked questions there and here with a fair amount of answers in both, but if it's MT questions you have this is the place to be

Except for the Mods going @ it I think fights are kept @ a minimum (with the exception of Benner vs. Micky D ) They are like an old married couple

You got it Riverride, this place is like a village this is the 2nd forum I joined in, tried the other forum about blades felt like I got lost in the big city.

There's a good reason behind that- I gathered all the SOSAK members that I liked here, and contacted a few BF members who seemed knowledgeable to join as well.  They weren't jackasses, and they brought over the other non-jackass members and soon we had a forum! 

Seriously, this place has grown quite a bit- multitools are one of those things that everyone has, but most folks don't think about.  In a way, this is kind of like opening toiletpaperforums.com- most folks have a preference, but not enough of an interest to want to talk about it, collect it, learn it's history etc, and yet when you need it, you are glad it's there, or you sorely miss it!

For the niche we are in, we are building amazingly well.  The proof of that is that no manufacturers have their own forums- Benchmade has a forum, Spyderco has their own forum, plus a sub-forum on BF, Cold Steel used to have their own forum, and yet Leatherman, Gerber or SOG don't have their own forums, which means either no one thought of it, or no one thought it was worth the effort.  We sure showed them!

Of course, just because no one has done something before doesn't mean it's a great idea, but now there are a few other sites created in our wake, trying to copy what we've done here.  If it was a dumb idea, like jumping off a cliff, we'd be the only ones at the bottom, but if others feel it's interesting enough to copy, then we must have landed in something good!  You think there would be any cheap knockoffs if the PST had flopped?

I haven't been here long myself, but my sense is that things are really starting to pick up steam lately. There seem to be a lot of new people becoming interested in multitools, and I think it is likely to keep growing.

This could all be explained by large numbers of people stumbling across all those multitools I keep seeing stuck in tree stumps and posts scattered around the world...

 A small positive of the economy tanking is that more people are doing more of their own repairs;house auto,etc.And  they're interested in getting more bang for their limited bucks,they go looking for reviews and advice on the best choices...and here we are! Timing is everything!
