Nice story - Always good to find a kindred spirit

A little surprised that 'tradies' still carry a multitool - As big users of tools every day - You'd think they'd mainly be using regular tools
So this is great to hear.

Also surprised about the Wave - eg With its tiny scisssors and eyeglass SD - You'd think it would be a Surge or Supertool for Charlie.

Well, I can't speak for all of them, but on my jobsites, most of the carpenters have massive tool belts with all kinds of tools so they usually DONT have MTs on them.  The paperhangers (like Charlie) often have a knife and sometimes have MTs. (they ALL have one or two disposable razor blades for cutting wallpaper)   The tapers don't have MTs or knives as often, not really sure why.  The laborers seem to have a knife or MT about half of the time.

It's funny that you mention the Surge.  I feel like that was one of the things we talked about.  I cant remember if he tried a Surge at one point or if I am confusing him with someone else.  My brother worked as a paperhanger until recently and when he was working, he would carry a Surge and a Husky 5 in 1 multi tool that I gave him as a gift.

Great thread!

Somewhere I read that if someone is carrying a tool, they are most likely going to be a person who knows how to use it. I’m sure that’s not always the case, but in my experience, very typical. People that carry multi tools and knives tend to be folks that can “get the job done. “

My neighbor wears a Tread and keeps a multitool on him most of the time. He’s a very capable guy. Same with a bunch of engineers I know. Seems that all of them carry a tool and dedicated flashlight.

A couple years ago I committed one of the greatest sins of spotting a cool loadout...not sharing.

So I'm at the grocery and there is this guy ahead of me with a fixed blade strapped to a maxpedition shoulder bag. Noting the coustom Kydex I ask what it is. We spend the next few minutes with him showing off his Reeve Green Beret, plus a Spyderco, and a Microtech.
Needless to say the cashier is mortified at two weirdos oggling knives in line.
I commented I just had a LM and SAK on me but failed to pick up that he was waiting to see them.

We parted ways and I realized my error of not showing mine a few minutes later
  :twak:

So that's the story of me bieng completely oblivious while simultaneously geeking out at someone's edc
