Replacement Cybertool bits
on: March 24, 2015, 12:37:29 PM
I'd been looking for some replacement bits (specifically a 2mm flat and T6 Torx) for my Cybertool and found this set on Amazon for just £6 with free postage:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009VYB8HA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01

Lots of bits (hex, torx, phillips, flat, a few security types) and a fairly decent driver handle:

The bits are chrome plated, single ended and held in place with a magnet in the driver handle.

This is the one I was after:

Fits well in the Cybertool bit driver, though isn't retained at all:

I've ordered some 3mm diameter x 1mm thick neodymium magnets to glue in the bottom of the bit driver to keep the bits in place.

The quality may be questionable though, this is the 1mm hex bit:

Looks like they missed the operation to machine the hex - it's a plain diameter.

Overall, it seems a pretty good set for a good price.  We'll see how they hold up in use.

You won't be happy with quality like this... sadly most 4mm kits seem to be on the crappy end. You can get good quality though from Kraftwerk or Wiha. Although, the only kit where the bits have a spring and are retained in the CT-bit-holder is this one here. Notice that while the bits work perfectly with the CT, the CT bits won't fit the kits bit holder.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Thanks Beat, that looks like a nice set. I'd looked at Victorinox, Facom and Wiha bits, but for the price of one or two bits I can get a full set to try and see what they're like. If they're smurf I'll try something better, but given that I only need them for terminal screws they should be OK.

I have a magnet on mine so a regular bit kit does fit. I have this cheap one and every bit is properly machined.
