Bad condition knives. Too good for the garbage - too bad to keep?

I think many collectors know that:
It has the knife you actually do not want to have.
You can see a cheap Lot deal where an interesting knife here is, buy it and get 7 other knives ...
Or friends and family give each a scrap knife they still find it anywhere.

Many knives are somehow too good to throw away, but in to bad condition to be collected or sold.
And so we threw her into some corner, bucket or box.
Flow the years and there are more and more...

Looks like my waste-SAK bucket is full this year ..

Come on, dig deep and show your waste knifes.  :pok:

on a similar note, I've often wondered how many 'unloved' or 'unappreciated' gems there must be, stashed away in cupboards or draws of people unlike us ......you know , the normal ones
people who have been given prezzies that they've merely looked at and then written off as "i'll never use that" stuff

I guess I could trade you some brand new ones, in perfect working order, for that waste SAK bucket of yours  ;)

Then I'd learn how to mod these things.

As for my waste SAK, I need to get pictures. It's nothing terribly exciting, just a brownish 84mm Elinox Secretary(?) with watch opener tool, marked Ω Omega. It's got good snap though the implements have seen some abuse, but they're not trashed so I got it in a flea market to scrutinise the knife's steel.

Alox? Fiber handles? Old triangular shields? Unless there's a ton of broken tools and springs, that looks like a treasure chest, not a waste bucket.

Man oh man. Excellent junk box!

Bloody hell that's a bucket full of fun, I bet I would use a lot of those I like Saks with patina. Infact I value my well used and tested saks more than my lightly used ones.

I was given the top two tools that were 'garden finds'
Its a SAK-a-like, the the pins disintegrated in the backtools when I tried to open them,
its just another project in my garage  ::)

Could you post pictures of the Sak's that are in very bad condition?
I actually love the look of a mt/sak that has seen hard use for years, screwdrivers re-grinded because they where bend/chipped, knife blade that has an akward shape because it was resharpend hunderds of times or has been regrinded because the tip was broken.

I would love to see some pics of that, you can't buy m that way. The only way to get them is to use them for years.

Sounds like they're "conscience-free" mod material. If you screw up something, who cares?

I for sure have some cellidors in that shape, but beat up alox, especially old cross I have stripped and re anodized and used on new knives and they are great!
