Leatherman were sued by the State of California in 2002 for claiming that their tools were Made in USA. In fact, the plier heads were cast in Mexico, so they wre forced to remove the "USA" from stocks of plier heads.

The ruling was later overruled, however from then on LTG stamped "TOOL" onthe plier heads, presumably to avoid any further action.
