My pocket clip/lanyard ring came in today!!!
on: July 26, 2008, 06:27:33 PM
:mail: Glad to announce that my pocket clip and lanyard ring came for my Wave today!!! I didn't even get in the house yet and it was already clipped to the side of my Wave!!!  I can tell me and the clip are gonna get along very very well!!! I had forgot that I had a ballistic nylon sheath for when I carried my Fuse, and I had been carrying the Wave in it. It also fits with the clip. I think I am pretty much gonna use the clip alone and carry it in my pocket for causal dress and carry it in the sheath for work, unless I like the feel of pocket carry alone, I may just pocket carry it. All in all though feels very sturdy!!!

That Leatherman clip really is the perfect pocket clip isn't it?  It wraps "up and around" which makes the tool ride low in the pocket where I like it. Regular clips leave 25% of the tool or knife sticking above the pocket line.

The other great thing is that it's removable in seconds, and yet very secure. :)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Yes it is!! That way if people see the clip they can either assume I am carry a knife or a big ass ink pen...lol. This will come in handy in some cities where carry on a belt may be illegal. My wife, kids and I are gonna be going to Indiana in 2 weeks, so that means that the sheath will be on vacation here at home for 4 days. lol. Can't get over how something that can easily be detatched is so solid!!

I'm a big fan of the pocket clip as well.  Makes a huge difference IMO.

Yeah, I guess the only real downfall is than, you can't carry your bit kit with it unless your gonna carry them in the sheath on your side and the tool in your pocket. I don't have the kit yet, but looking into it. I suppose if I go on road trips it wouldn't hurt to throw them in the glove box or something like that. Besides, I rarely come across where I need a hex wrench or whatever, but it will be nice to have when they are needed, and can just use my basic philips and regular screwdriver tip, and if it gets worn out, i can see if LM will replace it, if not, they arent much to replace.

I've used the pocket clip for a few years and I haven't had any problems. I read on another forum that someone damaged theirs twice on seat belts. I bought a spare just in case, but I never needed it. All is well. Don't worry about your pocket clip. They hold up just fine.

I bet what happened with theirs was they carried it with the tool outside the pocket. Otherwise I dont see how this could easily get caught on the seatbelt. It road comfortably in my 3rd pocket on my way to town. It is gonna be the permanent replacement to the sheaths I think

That may very well be what happened. I couldn't tell you how many times I've read on CPF where people had problems carrying Surefire lights clipped to their belt or outside their pocket. It seems obvious to me that they are meant to be clipped inside your pocket, but evidently it's not obvious to some people.

Yeah who knows? I actually see the clip kinda like a security feature. I keep reading about people losing tools falling out of the sheath, or the sheath breaking all together, and not knowing it. The clip is like a $5 insurance policy. If the clip should ever fall off, the tool falls in your pocket, plus pocket carry in my opinion offers more protection from abuse.

I know some people who carry their tools on the outside of the pocket, and i keep telling them one time its gonna hang and severely bend or snap the clip off, than its back to the store for a new knife, or getting it sent off for a new clip.

Just in case some people don't understand.....It is mean to be carried IN the pocket not on the pocket or belt. I guess if your in an area where you can't carry a knife, but still want too, you could tuck it easily concealed in a waistband.

I've carried a gun inside waistband, but never a knife or multitool. I think it would work for me if I had a need to carry this way.

Back in highschool my senior year I carried a PST in my back pocket for a class I was in, and they would have snapped if they knew I had it simply because of the knife inside. I used to carry a buck OHO knife in my waistband at school. Not as a weapon, but always as a tool. If they only knew I had that thing in there I would have been expelled, but some teachers knew I had it because they would ask to borrow it.

Just curious though and I have heard of it, but have you ever had to problem of the tool opening in your pocket in the L shape? I don't worry about the knives opeing on it, just the tool.

Nope.. Do you carry it in your right pocket? If so, try carrying it in your left- and see if it still does that!

I haven't had the problem no, but if I ever do I will try the left pocket, or even my back right pocket. Anyway it fits, thats what I want, since I will like it better than a sheath. ;)

Also, just wondering if you ever use the lanyard ring? I don't and probably never will, and may give it to a friend.

They don't do metal detectors? I almost got kicked out of high school for having a vic classic on my keychain. Quite often they do the everybody out of classroom now and get metal detector searched on the way out, while we search everybody's bag.

No, our school was in a small town, and never had trouble. We were lucky we never got that bad. I graduated in 2000. If there was ever a fight between students, and if they had a knife, they tossed it in a hat and gave it to a friend or put it somewhere away from everyone else, because we believed that a displaying a weapon just to try to be tough was the ***** way out, and we believed in the bare knuckle shuffle, and after that, it was done.
