I spent years finding the perfect (to me) pen.
Requirements:
1) Disposable: I don't tend to lose many things, but pens are among them, so I'm not shelling out a ton of money for one. They must be something I can stand to lose with fair frequency.
2) Fine line: These things need to make a fine, thin line, without skipping, and ESPECIALLY without blotting.
For something more than 15 years, that pen has been the Pilot Precise V5 Extra Fine pen in black ink.
And as my last old one just ran out, I just bought a new 5-pack. I would have bought a 10-pack if it office store I'd gone to had them. I'm glad they didn't. The new Pilot Precise V5 Extra Fine blots badly.
You know that crushing feeling you get when a product you could once rely on suddenly takes a sharp downturn in quality, forcing you to go on a new quest for non-crappy equipment? Yeah... that's how I feel now.
Dammit.
For sale: 4 brand new pens, one slightly used pen. And Pilot's reputation.
