Wenger older knife question
on: April 02, 2015, 10:48:56 PM
Can anyone tell me the years this knife was made? The scissors has a thin leaf spring.
Thanks in advance for your answer.  :)

According to  "The Swiss Army Knife Owner's Manual", by Michael Young, the Swiss cross in a blackened shield dates to the 1940s.  There seems to be some overlap and confusion between shield color, visible/invisible pins, style of bail, but that's a good working date. Nice find!

Just a note of caution the backsprings on the old Wengers can be a little brittle be careful when having more than one blade open.

But a really great looking knife :)

Thanks for that cautionary tip about the back springs.  ;)  Treating it with TLC and loving it being in my Wenger collection.  :D
Also, thank you both for the compliments, Reinier, tjfarrington2000 and jaydar
