I like the idea of that we could have a poll Each forum with there best models and then those winners be moved to the General tool forum (so not to be biased :P  :D ) Then we could pick from those  :D

Last year was a Wenger Evo 16.   Year before was an OHT.   Year before that was a blue Climber.

The hope is that this year, Vic or Wenger will make a completely unique, custom SAK for SOSAK for a limited run.

All of us at SOSAK have been debating which tools, what size, and what type of scales to choose for this ultimate SAK!

There is a Member called Travis Autry who deals with the companies sometimes. He organizes a large part of it. Def and Travis usually have a good idea what is possible and what is "blue sky". It usually boils down to numbers. I wonder if a joint Sosak / Multitool org. purchase might have more clout.

by having a "tool of the year" I think it rewards good designs and makers and gives
people who want a good tool in their hands some solid ideas/views.

we all know the choices can be overwhelming!
it also steers the next line/models in that direction, which is good for everybody ;)

The SOSAK KOTY(Knife of the year) has been and remains an interesting project.  Def and I have communicated on it several times in recent months.  Apparently some of my information got lost between my computer and his.  Having just figured that out, I will be sending him new info shortly.

Once he reviews my research and makes recommendations, I will post something at SOSAK so members can begin voting.  It has been a very democratic process each year and will remain so this year.  Once the members have voted on a model and color, reservations will be taken and payments received.  When that is done, I will place the order.  I will try to post something here so that those with memberships in both forums can be informed.

As for a multitool of the year, the idea has come up before.  The trick is finding a supplier, price point and minimum quantity that makes it worthwhile.  The SOSAK knife has never been a money maker, but the break even point on SAKs is much lower than on multitools.  It will take a good bit more research before we make a definitive decision.  Naturally it also depends on what plans, ideas or schemes Def has percolating in dark recesses of his brain.

Mwa ha ha haaaaahhhhhhh!

Seriously, I have different plans for Multitool.org, although a tool of the year hasn't strayed too far from my mind.  I prefer the option of offering any Multitool.org offerings on a regular basis, in hopes that anyone who has missed out on the initial release can pick up any tool whenever it's convenient for them.

We are working on a few plans for more dedicated members though, so don't worry.  Look for an announcement very soon! :D
